yes i have the original remote. we have not had any problems with the tv other than we are unable to get the video games to work. I don't have the owners manual to see if there is a setting that needs to be changed or not. your help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have the original remote (or an RCA branded universal replacement)? Or this is a case where you no longer have a video input available (the set doesn't offer you that option now, even though it used to)? Have you noticed occasional picture jumping, shrinking on the screen, or sometimes the channel just gets snowy and then clears up?

I had the same issue, turns out all I had to do was change the channel to 00, then my games or whatever I hooked up to the component inputs in the back worked like a champ.
The crapy part is that you have to go to walgreen, walmart, or frys, and get a swith converter if the remote will not let you go between the video in put it cuase it has been erased unless you can find a good universal remote with the tv/video or input switch on it this is how i have had to do it!!!! im buyin a 50 in lcd next week cuase this just pissed me off!!!! lol....

So, if your TV is on a "Channel", it is not on the correct input to view the Xbox 360.
Check the Xbox and verify which cables it is using to connect to the TV. When you find this, follow the cable to the back of the TV and find the input selection. It should be listed as the type and a number (i.e. HDMI 2, COMPONENT 1).
Have the Xbox on. Use the TV remote and use either the INPUT or the MENU options to change the input to the input that matches the port that the Xbox is connected to.
This should make the Xbox work.
When you are done with the Xbox, use the INPUT or MENU to change back to the tuner to watch TV.
Ur girl friend clean around did she unplug the tv.Replug it back later?Bet u she did,that why the tv universal codes is gone.Reprogram ur tv unverisal codes again should solved this problems.Tries push the manual control button channel up like one or two times tv will be in input video again like video 1 or 2.
My only suggestion would be to purchase a multi-functional remote that you could program to your TV. Now some remotes have to be programed buy your old remote. That is not what you need. You need the kind that comes with a little book that will list your tv model number and give you a code (usually 4 numbers) to teach it to talk to your tv.
The only way is with the remote. Try to find a GE or RCA universal remote. These remotes are designed around GE and RCA tv's and generally don't have to be programmed. (GE and RCA are both THOMSON made sets). Thanks
usually if you change the channel doen pass channel 2 then it will come across the different inputs. otherwise is there an input button on your remote? if so then push that button until you get the input you want.
If there is no input button on the tv itself to change the input then you will most likly need a remote. so you can get a universal remote and follow the instructions to adapt it to your set then you can use it to change the input. (you can get a universasl remote for like 10$) hope it helped
The GE (actually RCA) 31GT660 uses the CTC187 series chassis. This chassis is notorious for bad solder joints on the shields around the tuner and microprocessor. When the solder joints on the shields crack, the microprocessor and EPROM lose their ground and the EPROM's data becomes corrupt. The solder joints on the shields will all have to be resoldered and the EPROM reprogrammed or replaced by a qualified tech familiar with the 187 series chassis.
