Bought this 18 months ago. Due to major house renovations to my Spanish townhouse never tried it out until 2 days ago. When I power it on a red light comes on at the Standy/eco button. I cannot get the main system to start up. No display on the main display dial. Tried Philips who phoned me and said take it to a service centre. This has never been used!!!!!! Please can anyone help. Am I missing something very basic or is it possibly more sinister

Re: Cant get it to start
To reset the system to "install" mode press & hold the "play/pause" button in the center of the unit until "AUTO INSTALL- PRESS PLAY" is displayed.
If this doesn't work then the unit may be too hot! I see on the philips web site that this model has a temperature sensor & will shut itself off. I am in Spain too & the temperature inside right now is 30C!!
You can download the manual at:

All generators need to be run once a month. All things from the tank to the and including the carb will get gummed up with dried out fuel.
I have a whole house generator and a 5500 watt gen set on my motor home. I keep fresh fuel in the stand alone house generator in California in case of a bad earthquake. I drain the gas after every run and keep all vehicles full of fuel just in case.
Run gen sets at least once a month or pay pay pay!!
might be your auto locking hubs if you have them .... if not could be an inner passenger wheel hub prob... pull the front right wheel and then poull out your hub and check for damage
replace the distributor oil is leaking into the electronics of the distributor and shorting out pull cap back off and look and see if oil is leaking out
