I have got a monitor (from apple) without the adapter, but it has a USB and DVI connector. So I think that USB can be used instead of the adapter (12v). I have opened up the monitor and inside the monitor I found this sticker on the LCD screen "LG Model: LM151X1 (D2MN)". I have connected the monitor to my USB port and DVI but it does not respont when pressing the on/off button. My question is, why can't I turn on the monitor, what can be wrong? (I have no experience with macintosh screens, but it seems that this is actually a screen from LG, it just has a macintosh "look" outside. Regards, Russian
The USB connector isn't for video. You plug a USB cable to a free USB port on your PC then plug that into you?re the type B USB connector (squarish with two rounded edges) on your monitor. Somewhere on your monitor you will fine two standard type ?A? USB sockets (rectangular), basically your monitor has a USB hub built into it for convenience. You will have to either get a new video card with a DVI output or an adaptor to convert DMI to VGA. Most of the ones I've seen are $50 or more.
