I have Magellan 500 which was barley used but all of the sudden it does not power up anymore. I tried it with the car charger and with the AC adapter, same results.
I've got one that has a problem with the power connector. Look on the adapter thingy (has the female power socket along with the usb socket). With a pin, wiggle the center power pin. If it is loose, this is the problem. Carefully use a knife to open the adapter thingy (it's glued together). Go to Radio Shack/Fry's and get a replacement power female socket that solders to the little PC board in the adapter thingy. This will fix it. Allen

I just ordered this unit thru the internet. Pd. extra to have it shipped air
Plugged it into the wall outlet -would not turn on. tried using it in the car w/the cigeratte lighter outlet still would not turn on. the manuel does not even tell you how to get the unit started & turned on. I hate to spend all that money on shipping charges again when the unit I received was dead to begin with. i also have the Garmin 4040 & right from the start worked perfectly. also came with a simple (get started) instruction card.
