Question about Casio Exilim EX-S500 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Lens error i have the exilim ex-s500 it was dropped into a glass of soda a few months ago. it dried out and kinda worked for a little while, although it has a brown spot (from the dried soda) on the inside middle of the lens. i took it apart and cleaned it but i couldnt get inside of the lens. it used to turn on and say lens error and then it would shut down. now it just tuns on and then back off again and does this grunting noise. the LCD screen works fine when its on the dock and i use the slide show feature. i know that there is something wrong with the lens but im not sure if the battery needs to be changed or not. what should i do???

Dropped my exlilim ex-s880 in the sand and can view pictures only

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Ex s500 - camera lens stuck in out position.

Sounds like you have a defective motherboard, because it wasn't dropped, it is not usually a lens issue. This is a camera repair place, they specialize on small cameras like casio exilims. I've had a Canon sd750 fixed with them for the exact same problem. The website is : camera repair nyc
