Well, I'm trying to decipher this. Why does the recording in DVR revert to the default (date/time???) when the light goes off and comes back on.
I'm guessing you are trying to say time, not date, maybe day?
The DVR is trying to remember when a show comes on and record it, based on your settings. Usually shows come on at a specific time. DVRs usually update their scheduled recordings based on updated programming guide information. If you are constantly unplugging or causing your receiver to otherwise restart, most receivers will download an updated guide upon getting power back or restarting (DVRs themselves not having any idea how long they've been without power, download a new guide just in case after you unplugged them you moved to Arizona). During this time, the recording you set is showing the original time you set it up, because until the guide is downloaded, it has no idea that its wrong.
My best advice, even if I'm wrong about our language barrier here, stop unplugging your receiver. Leave it plugged in and powered at all times.
Your Digital Watchdog dw-vf162t should be reset according to proper instruccions. If you don't have the manual, you shshould contacte provider Contacts Digital Watchdog
I found the following for DVR Vmax Flex: Reset procedure is as follows, Press and hold the OK button on the remote for 45 seconds, it will beep many times, a screen will pop up and ask you to reset, select YES. The reset will default it to factory, which is No Password at all. If this is not the info you're after, you can choose a method to contact Digital Watch Dog shown on their webpage:

Make sure you have the right date and time set. You cannot set a timer program until you have the correct time and date set. Let me know if that helps.
Press and hold the menu button. If there is a password set up then you will need to enter it then press menu again. The first menu page has the time and date settings on it. Use the arrow keys to highlight the time/date box that you need to change then press the up/down arrow to adjust the value.
Hi there The best bet now the company has gone bust is trawl through the forums to see in anyone has a firmware upgrade saved and available for download. Here is a good start.
