I have just pulled my dell 3100cn out of my car to set it back up. The printer sat in the car for a couple of days in 15-30 degree temperatures. Once plugged back in, I recieved the error message 007-342 "contact technical support if error appears again".
Do you think this is due to the unit being to cold?
Is there anyway to perform a hard reset on the unit?

You need to let the unit get tempered to you home environment before using the device being left in damp or warm areas can overwhelm the device if plugged straight in, leave it in your home for upto 3 hrs before using it you may need to reset it if the service code comes back up, hold the power button down on power plug inserted, for 10 seconds. but only do this when the printer is at your home humidity.

I had to actually change the settings in Microsoft Word to resolve this problem.
If you go to page setup > paper source > there should be lists for "first page" and "other pages".
You can set this to "as per printer settings" and hopefully it should work.

The following steps are the troubleshooting steps that should be followed for error code 010 397.
First, the definition of the failure is <IOT Fuser Failure>, and means a Fuser Error is detected.
1) With power off, reseat the fuser by physically removing it from the printer, then reinstalling it and locking it in place. Turn the power back on. ( if the error is still present, proceed to step 2 ).
2) If reseating the fuser did not resolve the problem, Replace the fuser with a known good fuser.
( if problem is not resolved, proceed to step 3)
3) Replace the LVPS ( low voltage power supply ). ( if problem not resolved, proceed to step 4 ).
4) Replace the PWBA MCU ( printed wiring board assembly - machine control unit ).
END of troubleshooting.........
In most cases, the fuser itself is the problem. If you tried to reseat or replace the fuser while power was still on, the LVPS could have been damaged just as if there were an electrical storm.

Open the printer using the button on the side top right. You will see two gray things with arrows going left and right. move them both two where you can take out the piece it is hold in. Pull out the large piece and put it back in. Close the two gray things to lock it back into place. Close the printer and restart it. It should fix your issue. It must of became loose at one point when I was moving so I fiddled with it and turns out that was the issue. It works great now!!

Push the side button and open the front cover
Pull out the jammed paper from the
duplexer. If jammed
paper cannot be found, go to the next step.
Pull up on the belt release levers and rotate the belt unit up
Remove the jammed
paper and close the belt unit

The RAM for the printer is temporary.
turn off the printer and unplug the printer from the outlet. wait for 20 sec. plug the printer in and turn it on.
you can select in the printer properties page of the printer to print immediately instead of spool and print from the last page first. that will eliminated the ob store in the RAM.
