Actual problem is with my Lexar Media 126mb Memory Stick. While downloading "captured" video clips from my TRV730 onto my PC utilizing a "Dazzle" stick reader, I lost the formatting on the Stick. Now the camera gives an error message, "FORMAT ERROR". Have no idea how to / or if the stick can be re-formatted to use in said camera...Any help would be appreciated.. Jimbo
If you can see it as a device in windows explorer, right click it's ICON and see if you can format it. If you can format it using FAT32 NOT NTFS. This will either work or you will be no worse off. If you can not see the device in windows explorer then the stick is done and you'll need to get another.

try formatting the stick through the camera itself. else download the software of camera and connect it to pc and see if it has any formatting options...
Maybe your stick was not formatted at all.it can be possible that the area of memory that is not visible is occupied by a virus.i once faced that prob but i used KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY.Its one of the best try scanning the stick that is if you havent tried it yet.Hope it works
The Camera may display the FORMAT Error if the inserted media is not formatted or if the media was formatted on a computer. This error may also display if the inserted media is not supported by the Camera. The maximum supported capacity and media used is Memory Stick Pro Duo with 1 or 2 GB.
If you've already captured the images in the Camera and the error message displays, then try to open different images captured in the Camera and check if the message appears for all the images.
If this happens with all the images, then remove and reinsert the MS (Memory Stick) in the Camera and check if it works. You may also try cleaning the MS terminals and also check if the Internal Memory of the Camera displays the error. If the issue persists, then insert the MS in the Computer slot and transfer all the images to the Computer. If the images appear normally in the Computer, then Format the media in the Camera. To Format the Memory Stick, select the Format option in the Memory Stick Tool Menu of the Camera. (Menu-->Setup-->Memory Stick Tool-->Format) Formatting the MS will delete all the files saved.
Hi, Videos cant be held on memory stick. They are of huge size to fit into memory sticks.
Check if camera has the firewire port. If so, you can get a 4 pin firewire cable and connect to the PC. Switch on the Cam. Open Windows Movie Maker and import video from device.
4 pin firewire would look like this: http://www.pcab.co.uk/ebay/firewire%204%20to%204.jpg
You can use the Movie maker to burn it to the Disk
I just looked at my Sony DCR-TRV30. Not the same, but perhaps similar. My camera records lengthy videos on tape and only brief videos on memory stick. I suggest that you stick to tape for video. Good Luck almarc13
