Thermal switch in the burner is defective. You can take it apart and replace it. You have two possibilities here. If you take it apart, you will either need to replace the temperature control switch completely. You will see a part number and mfg name on the switch. See you can find an electrical store near by that has them. Or, there may be a seperate "high temp thermal switch" on the burner element. Don't know that particular design but either way it sounds like the thermal swich is not letting the burner shut down ans cyclt as it should.

There is no on/off switch on this model, so a test takes patience. Plug and pray. My unit will produce some steam from the water tank after ten or so minutes, make noises as it should, then stop making steam and noise after five more minutes. No water ever reaches the filter basket or nozzle. Both plates heat up fine, both plate switch lights come on. There are no other controls, no drain for the tank. There is a part inside that has a post and tiny two blade propeller on top. Is this the temperature control? What would need to be replaced? Will Bunn send me the parts I need? This heavy duty machine would be perfect for our small church cafe.
It sounds like you are referring to the burners and not the actual brewing cycle which is the same problem I have
