Question about Kenwood VR8050 Audio/Video Receiver 100 Watts x 6. Black 019048153593 System
I have the vr616 receiver and DVD player. The DVD player has crapped out. It will no longer read DVDs and every time I load one in it reads an error message. I've given up on that, and finally bought a new DVD player. The receiver has recently been shutting off for no apparent reason when I have the surround sound on. It shuts off anywhere within 1-5 minutes after turning on, and the power light blinks really fast. It's only 3-4 years old, and should be lasting longer. I'd appreciate any help.

Please update your post with any Model Numbers that you can retrieve, especially the subwoofer. Off hand, and with the limited amount of information that you have provided, I would GUESS that your subwoofer is simply overheating, and is being shutdown internally, hence protecting the fuse because no short is detected. If you haven't moved and or vaccuumed/cleaned around or near your system regularly, dust, pollution, pollen...you name it, builds up and can easily prevent electronics from breeathing/venting properly.

Hi, same thing happened to my one of the above. I bought a cheap dvd player to view movies and run the audio through the kenwood to use the surround speakers.

SOURCE: Re: Kenwood DV 605 CD
We repaired this problem by taking the advice of another member of FixYa! The component had recently been packed to be shipped. After unpacking the unit when we powered up the read out only displayed "LOADING" and the CD changer door would not open. We removed the exterior cover and gently moved the CD changer one position. When it locked back into position we powered up and the unit works fine now. FixYa sure help me save perhaps a $100. or more by not sending it to the manufacturer or another shop. And it was working within minutes so we could enjoy using it right away. Thanks guys I very much will recommend this sevice to others... this was the 2nd problem we fixed that day by logging onto FixYa!!!
