Hi: I have a 6 month old Optio m20 digital camera. My computer doesn't recognize the camera. I tired on a different computer and tried a different cable with the same result...I think the USB port on the camera is bad...do these go out? Can they be repaired? Or would I be better off just buyin a card reader? Thanks
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

But it does seem to be a lens problem. Possibly the lens is out of sync as mentioned in another post here.If there is a grinding, the lens is probably damaged by dirt or sand.
Make sure the batteries or battery is fully charged.
You will need to go to the manufacturers web site and check to see if they have a download available for your camera to work with Vista. I have the same problem with my camera and now use AdobePhotoShop software to process all of my photos and video, and if I may say "it works just great"!!!
This is not solution..lol..It`s just I have same problem..But i buy new battery and after 10 min is again message:battery depleted... ..What I`m gone do???
