you seem to have a similar problem to the one I posted a couple of days ago John. Is your viewfinder image clear before you take your photo? Mine only takes clear shots if I move the sound/movie/camera button up and down a few times and actually see a clear image in the viewfinder before I take a shot. How you cure that is why I posted my query. Chris
Blurness doesn't happens because of the number of the pixels in the cameras. Is the picture on the computer screen blur/the cameras screen or the lens hole?
I suggest you to set the camera on Automatic station (red camera on the wheel) in day light, try to stay still see how blur the photos are when you are not playing with the parameters. it it's still blurry it could be the pulley block next to the -eyepiece. roll it until it's not blur.
I found the same fault, but for me it is intermittent. I have tried all sorts of things to clear it, but the best seems to be leave it turned off for a while. I bought my Ixus 400 in Sept 03 and the fault started in Jun 07. It shows already taken pictures with no problem on review on the LED screen, but the screen blurs (with motion) and records that same blurred image.
It could be an issue with the dioptre adjustment:
1 Set the Power Switch to ?A? or ?M? while
pressing down the Lock Button located on the
2 Make sure the LCD monitor is closed and
locked. Pull out the viewfinder fully and adjust it manually for best viewability. So slide the rubber eyecup toward you.
3 Turn the Dioptre Adjustment Control until the
indications in the viewfinder are clearly focused. The control is a litttle knob on the sied of eye-piece. While looking through the viewfinder, turn the knob until it is focused.
Hope this helps.
If u seeing image properly ( Blur image ). In main board or sub board some components will be leakage. This leakage will form, if the camera not use for a long time.
If the image is not clear then the CCD may be defective. For CCD failure SONY company will give u free service & spares for this camera model.
(only for CCD failure)
Best of luck
