Gx280 powers up but no boot

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

As soon as I install the lan drivers on my gx280 it goes off and the cpu fan speeds up to full speed, without these drivers it would work fine all day without internet connection of course.

Try running diagnostics on yourcomputer to see if you have a hardware problem. You should have a CD that camewith the computer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed undercontents. Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to www.support.dell.com and select "Drivers and Downloads". Enterthe "service tag" (serial number) of the computer. You can then download"Diagnostics" .
To boot from a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key to bringyou to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVD drive andthen select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the "Runthe 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

If all tests pass then reload OS ( Operating Software ).

Massive noise, now unable to access computer at all. constant amber light, not moving to next stage, nothing on screen, several thermal events previous to it blocking my access

Noise is most likely CPU Fan racing. Fault is most likely motherboard failure (Solid Amber power LED is usually MB and thermal events could be associated) Replace the motherboard

Dell Optiplex gx280 shuts down and orange power light blinks

It happens because the power supply is overheats and computer goes to standby. The power supply is 160w or lower. Specially it will happen if you put more devices in such as video card or sound card. So the only solution you have is to place a small 1or2 fans toward the power supply to make it cooler. And 1 more thing the power for the fans should come from other sources.
