I had the same problem like everybody else since 2005 . GOODMANS GPDR40 X-Pro personal Media Centre. After Initialise the screen freezes - MASS STORAGE
DIRECT PRINT.
I have suspected that was the battery at fault or something to do with the power.
Why?.Because i have managed to let the Goodmans work, but only for a long time when
connected to the main adaptor.
I use it to record Video from sky,Or to use the unit as a storage drive.
Here are the steps to regain possession of the Unit.
First discharge the unit by leaving the screen on when in direct print mode,
(Move the cursor down to access this mode, normally it does this automatically.)
Make sure the screen display stays on in order to help the discharging of the battery.
Having the screen on will not switch the unit off until the battery is flat.
To have the screen on press the top button again if the display revert to a blank screen.
Once the unit is discarged the the unit will turn itself off.
Now we can connect the power lead to the unit and start the unit once more.
It normally last a couple of hours or more, but it will stop again eventually.
My suspicion is that the battery charger control is not working right and
after a period of time, may be a year ore less, will cause this problem
to all these units.
I hope it works for you too, even if not as before.

My GPDR40 starts to boot up, light comes on, hard-drive spins and the screen shows "Data Loading". It stays like that for about 30 seconds then it switches off. when plugged into a PC (tried three different ones) it is not seen at all! is there a source for the drivers, and will it be seen once the drivers are installed on the PC?
