My Caplio R2 has developed a problem. When sliding open the shutter to turn it on, it almost always automatically turns itself back off again- like the switch attached to the slider is faulty (or has become detached from the camera innards). Tapping the camera (or slider) sometimes tempoarirly reactivates the camera but the slider is very finiky- slightly touching it will deactivate/ activate the camera. How do you open this camera to examine the switch. It is a MAJOR problem. The camera is out of warranty. I am good wth repairing micro electronics. Is there any info out there (eg- a manual) which explains how to disasseble this camera.
I have the same issue, I've pulled my camera apart, it's a faulty contact in the slider on/off switch assembly. I'm planning to remove the slider ass'y and check the contacts. Ricoh state it's a common problem, new switch ass'y is about $40 AU

Yes, we have the same problem. It gets frustrating and just wipes out the original point and shoot feature. The camera had been flawless.
Hi Newton63,
We have the same problem.
Do you have any tips on opening this up, and a source for the part?
Thanks.
