Phone shops bloody useless....
Got to be a Motorola fault, but i cannot find support
I think they should be recalled and fixed. I feel like throwing it but they are too expensive
Any further suggestions appreciated

Hey, I have or should I say I had the same problem with my v6 maxx keypad not working. So I started to look into the flex cable replacement idea. I remove the back cover. Removed the Sim Card, Battery and Memory card fully intending to split the phone and have a look around inside. But then I came to a grinding stop when I saw how small the hex screws are. Gotta get me some of those. While I was there staring at the screws I noticed a small amount of dirt residue inside the back of the phone so figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a spray with CRC Contact Cleaner (it leaves no residue). I left the mobile in the sun to dry for about 3 minutes. Replaced the battery, memory and sim card and now it's working PERFECTLY. Done. fixed. *** twas just dirt. Cheers roddarockker
Ive had the same problem.the volume key blocked my phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!all the same ,as above mentioned, the only key that worked on the phone was the power on/off key!i readed posts abowe and since i have no special screwdrivers to open the phone and clean contacts i thought to try something> just to put a little bitt of alcohole on every button on the flip./volume,camera button etc./ without opening the phone at all!!!!<i did this, put out battery from phone let him without battery about 2 hours until he dryes ,put battery back, turn on phone and wola it works!!!!!!!!!!!the whole problem is in dirt in buttons on the flip of the phone, probably it comes from hands during carring phone around etc.this is how i solved my problem.i hope that this is good for all that share the same problem!regards from serbia.
Hey. Mine has the same problem and the supplier says it liqiud damage which I disputed. A friend opened it up thinking all the damage was done and found a black mark on the contact plate,he cleaned it off and wiped it with a silicone spray not to dissimilar to DWD. Problem is fixed by I sitll believe it the manufactures problem

I conclude that this dorr lock is better that is appear. Is not a 2 codes door lock, it's a 3 codes one.. and the problem you have is the third code not reset. You can put the same code in each third emplacement. you have just to press the program button 3 time for the third code...
I determinate that I put the third code by error the was i program it the firs time.
;-)
I guide you...
To program the first code, press the reset button once, then enter your 4-8
digit code on the exterior keypad, then immediately press the middle
lock button on the exterior keypad. You will hear a beep. This signals
that your code has been accepted.
To program the second code, press the reset button twice , then enter your 4-8
digit code on the exterior keypad, then immediately press the middle
lock button on the exterior keypad. You will hear a beep. This signals
that your code has been accepted.
To program the third code, press the reset button 3 time, then enter your 4-8
digit code on the exterior keypad, then immediately press the middle
lock button on the exterior keypad. You will hear a beep. This signals
that your code has been accepted.
2. Hold down the power button (hang up button) and the center key button (the button between the arrows) at the same time.
3. When the verizon logo appears on the device. Let go of both buttons.
4. A screen will come up saying to do a Master Reset. You will hit the left soft key to say yes to confirm.
Your Moto Q is now been hard reset ( Master Reset ) without having to go through the menu of the device. ------------ There's currently no other way to reset your phone without using the buttons so. If you are having problems with your Q already (since they were just
released a few weeks ago), don't be afraid to exchange it for a new one.
The Motorola Q tech support line that I called was 1-800-657-7576.
The volume buttons on the side of the phone are sticking. My up volume button seemed fine, but someone told me to keep pushing it and the button will release. Sure enough, the volume controls started to work. I played with both the up and down buttons some more and the button below started working. A few more minutes monkeying around with the volume buttons and now all the buttons work.

One of your units has reverted from "rolling code" to "billion code" and as you have found they will each work but will not work with each other. The problem is finding out which unit reverted. The most common one is the hand remote but that could be wrong.
This is a difficult question to answer. First, make sure you did not accidentally drop any liquids on your keypad. Second, try removing the battery and replacing it. Thirds, try a Master Reset (Start, System Tools, Master Reset) BUT REMEMBER THAT A MASTER RESET WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE ALL PERSONAL DATA. After that I am afraid you may have to turn your phone in on an insurance claim. Good luck.
Your phone possibly got wet and thus your screen flex cable connection needs to be cleaned up with some contact spray or maybe your flex cable needs replacing to solve this problem.Contact a good service tech to get this problem rectified. At least you know what your problem is so now you could get it solved.
