Hp vs15, black screen, power light goes on and off like it is in sleep mode

I have an hp vs15 that is about a year and a half old. It is showing only a black screen when turned on. The power light goes on and then off as if someone had turned it off manually. So, I unplugged it and then plugged it in again. I unhooked it from the back of my computer and then reconnected it and rebooted my computer. The only thing this accomplished is that the monitor power light now blinks as if it were in sleep mode. I still have no picture (black screen of doom). If anyone has any idea's or can offer any assistance it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Loss

My HP vs15 has this problem and the best solution I found short of buying a new monitor is to give the monitor a good whack on the top of the bezel, or to lift it to about six inches above the desk and brop it - I do it all the time.

I have no solution, but apparently that is about how long those monitors last. Ours just did exactly the sme thing at the same age.

Monitor is dead. The LCD inverter board probably went out and needs replacing. More than likely, it will cost you over $100 to get it fixed. It's better to spend the money on a new monitor.

Hpw2207h immediately goes into hibernation upon power up. How do I keep it on.

WHAT IS IT, MUST I guess ?
HP W2207h "monitor" 2006 built, 13 years old today.
does it fail on 2 PCs, or just one, what a simple easy test no>?
and IT has those junky CCFL lamps inside, that most are now dim dead this old. (it is hopeless to own this monitor this old) sorry
buy 2010 models and newer only with LED back lamps!!
ok, google tells me it is and HP monitor (old)
if the PC is dead or in sleep mode /hibernation or hybrid speed
all monitors do that, the monitor is just a slave of the PC
if the PC is dead the monitor goes to sleep on all modern PCs.
that way it doesnt burn up the screen, ok?

next up is the monitors OSD menu button on monitor front.
this old monitor has its own sleep timer inside the monitors
used for year 2001 PC that did not sleep then.
so was inside this silly old monitor so turn it off.
RTM here is your manual read page.32

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/71492/Hp-W1707.html?page=32&term=timer

if the monitor sleeps on 2 PCs turn off the timer
if dims out and a flash light shows, data the CCFL tubes are SHORT. (bad)
if the monitor is dead/dim/sleeping only on ONE PC then the PC is dead. a whole other topic and far more complex but we can do that,
here is question 1; of 20
do the fans blow air in the PC>? heard, felt seen?

all do. did, long ago.

so the screen is black and never once shows text , RIGHT?
that is called the black screen of deathh(sic)
HP Pavilion 325c Desktop PC (US) (HP says its RETIRED)
end of the road, support (all)

power on the monitor
see it show, a monitor message log, or words, or even the OSD pops up
then turn on the PC next, see the Screen work show text
or shows nothing , black or the monitor will show.
NO SIGNAL
NO SYNC
OUT OF RANGE.
sleep mode or power saver mode.
The monitor if 2000 an newer will talk to you, it shows failures.
on screen.
does the PSU fan spin, if not the PSU is dead.
and more.
the VGA cables needs to be connected from Monitor to PC.
the power cables both good.

Why does my HP vs17 monitor screen keep going to blank black screen like it turned off but did'nt.....blue power button light is still on? Everything is running but no picture.....keeps happening everytime...

this old monitor has 2 issues.
1: it has CCFL tubes that love to burn out (backlamps)
most this old are long go, yell, dim.,blinking or DEAD.
2: push the menu button on front of mon. turn off power saver.

3: if the PC goes to sleep, or hibernete mode (parked)
then that is 100% normal
if you dont like feature then go to windows control panel
click power, ICON and turn off all monitor sleep /hibernate modes.

that assumes windows, no OS stated.

if the lamps are dead,
use flash light pointed to sceen, see data. ? bingo for bad CCFT tubes.
as seen here

My hp w2207h goes to sleep

Sounds like your video card is failing. If the video is internal to the motherboard, get a video card and add it to the motherboard if there is an open video slot available

Hp w2007 blank screen

we have here , like 1000s of black screens posted here now.
all the same all with CCFL lamps. that die. same solution.
older monitors have a power saver mode inside it,
push the front button called menu, then see OSD menu
then find and turn off power saver.
if the OSD fails to show up; the CCFL are dead.
this monitor was made in 2007, and 2010 is the starting year
for ending the usage of CCFL (starting on large screens working to small)

im reading your manual for you now, free.
page 4 tells you it has CCFT (T mean Tube, L means lamp)
same same.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1110533/Hp-W2007.html?page=4#manual

now lets look at the page on saver. power

page 7, (its on by default ) oops !
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1110533/Hp-W2007.html?page=7#manual

turn saver OFF
see next page 8 and turn DDC ON.
see sleep timer and turn that all off.
if you push factory reset, it the problem begins again.
bad. for you.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1110533/Hp-https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1110533/Hp-W2007.html?page=8#manual

you can in fact download the whole manual.
for free. here. the site on the internet in this regard.

all old HP monitors are made for old PC 2000 year.
your PC is not 17 years old i bet.
so all this old saver stuff is now WRONG.
(all this is old school Energy Star , malarkey, )

Monitor goes black but shows icons...

I'll assume this is an LCD panel screen.

If what you are saying is the screen shows up and then goes dim or starts dim, and you can see a dark image of the system starting up and then displaying Windows...

Your problem is a bad CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) at the top of the LCD panel.

If the screen is totally blank, then it may be the power inverter.

You can find many websites that sell these parts, but make sure you have the right model.

If you feel comfortable with working on computers, you can replace this part yourself. Otherwise, you may want to pay a technician to do it. Make sure to get a fixed price quote before authorizing the work

Here is a website on LCD repair for laptops, but it the same principal for display monitors.

Monitor stays asleep

Check in the BIOS and see what your monitor settings are.
Did you change the sleep mode or power off mode? What do you do to make it come back on? Sounds like it might be getting too hot and/or going bad. Try it on another machine and see what it does. Also try another video card because the video card could be going bad.
