Head unit randomly cutting out

Well I've had my JVC cd player for about a year now and it has worked flawlessly...until now. About a week ago it would just randomly cut out. I could be parked or driving and it will "restart" at random times. I noticed that it would do it at bumps too, but then it will also do it when im sitting still, with the car not moving at all. I thought it might be the battery so i tried cleaning up all the connections but it didn't help anything. I also tried resetting the player but that did no good either. It probably only does it maybe once every 15 minutes to a half an hour of driving. So it's not like it's cutting out every few seconds. If anyone has an idea of what's wrong, please post. thanks

Turns out the connection from the negative battery cable ground wire to the frame of the car wasn't getting a good connection. So I took the bolt out and sanded it all down and now everything works fine!

Try re-grounding the radio. take it out and re-install it.

Hey gt: I have a similar problem with my JVC PDR 30 cd deck. It seems to happen in the hot weather. Tried the cd in my other vehicle and it works fine,, If I can find out more will let you know.

My JVC car stereo will let me listen to the radio but when i put in a cd it wont play and 00:0000 AY flashes constantly. It started a week ago... have i pressed a wrong button?

I had the same problem, it occurred after my battery had run flat. To fix it you need to reset the unit. To do this, remove the clip-off fascia, and on the main body of the unit there small hole, just to the left of the connector. Push a narrow pointed object such as a pen nib into this hold until you feel the click. The unit is now reset and should be working properly. You'll have to retune your saved radio stations, but the cd player should now be working.

Nope. Its getting to the end of its days. I'm guessing by your description you tend to play your music loudly like I do. Well when you do that it causes vibration. Vibration+electronics=Short life span.

If the unit has a removable face take a pencil eraser and try shining up the little contacts on the back of the face and the radio. See if that cleaning helps.
