Toshiba 50hp66 i have a 7 month old Toshiba 50HP66 and for some reason it has not been looking the way it should be. i called a technician to my house and he told me that the processor went bad. the contrast and pixels are very poor and look as if they are coming from the background. kind of like a 3 dimensional picture. any suggestions as to what i can do to fix this problem? would calibration be a good idea for this?
I also have the same problem with my oshiba 50hp66... the contrast and pixels are very poor and look as if they are coming from the background. kind of like a 3 dimensional picture. Is there a specific board to replace?I also have the same problem with my oshiba 50hp66... the contrast and pixels are very poor and look as if they are coming from the background. kind of like a 3 dimensional picture. Change input device to some other like a DVD player and see. Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry. If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.
A part of the buffer memory from the image processor is faulty and all the data stored in there is corrupted, hence the lines you see.
What you must replace is the board on which the processor is situated, the logic one. Here it is http://www.partstore.com/Part/Toshiba/Toshiba/50HP66/Toshiba/Toshiba/75003034/New.aspx
Check the fuses on the ysus & zsus boards. Are any fuses on boards open . Disconect power cabels to ysus board first {board on left} . put tv on . if the light is green the ysus board must be replaced.
most units are made by someone else. your unit probably has LG parts. get the unit looked at by a Toshiba authorized servicer. they may be able to repair it at component level. the $900 you stated sounds at least $200 too high for board level repair.
I think that the pop you heard was an electrolytic capacitor blowing its top on the picture frame board. If you are able to check this for yourself by looking on the board for the one/s with a bulging top or are a brownish/black colour like something has caught fire. And also in this situation smell can be of great help as it will smell burnt out but PLEASE before putting your nose or anything else in the tv take all necessary precautions against electric shock and discharge any electrolytic capacitors in the vicinity. If you are not able to do this yourself find a competant technician. Hope this helps.
It sounds like the video output isn't working its most likely a component failure 1 thing you could try is connecting a rca cables from video/audio out on the set to another set vid/audio inputs to see if it the video gets through. This is a problem that requires technical knowledge and test equipment to trace the video signeal
