SOURCE: 2005 Lincoln Navigator. Message says to Check

Most likely the problem you are experiencing with the park assist is a fault in one of the sensors mounted in the rear bumper. I would not consider it to be a major fix, however there will be a few hours labor involved as the bumper cover needs to be removed to replace the sensors.

SOURCE: 2004 lincoln navigator gear shifter locked

Make sure that you have brake lights. It has a shifter interlock solenoid in the console that is activated when ever the brake lamps are on.

Your brake lights are most likely inop. this is what triggers this.

Stuck in park while truck is still running 1998 Lincoln Navigator

Are your brake lights working?
If not, replace the fuse. Still not working? Replace the brake light switch. (Your brake light switch also releases the lock for the gear shift).
If your brake lights are working, are you hearing a soft "click" at the gear shift when you depress the brake? If not, check the lock solenoid at the gear shift lever.
There is also a slight possibility that your park pin is jammed. If you're parked on a hill, it's likely. Have someone push the car back and forth as you try to take it out of park... JUST DON'T RUN THEM OVER. :)

My 2001 lincoln navigator wont go into gear. its just stuck in park. do you have an awnser to this problem?

Try turning the key to the run position without starting the car. See if it wil now give up the park position into neutral. If so, start the car, put it in drive and go. I have experienced this same problem with Ford Crown Vic sedans.

2005 Navigator cant get it out of park? Button on side of gear shift wont budge when I push it in to try to reverse or drive

Does the brake lights work? If so try turning key forward just a little but not so far as to turn on lights, Try to move shifter then, If it moves? The shift interlock has malfunctioned, You can use that procedure to drive the vehical, Just do that and put in neutral and start the select your gearing, That way you dont have to tow it to a repair shop.. If the brake lights do not work? Check the fuse to it, If its good replace the brake light switch

03 navigator gear shift gets stuck in the parked postion and wont shift to drive what's wrong?

The switch on the brake master cylinder is FAMOUS for shorting out. Unplug it and find the blown fuse. In the fuse box under the hood, fuse 1.5 Your truck may be under a recall for that switch, call the dealer with your VIN number and see if it qualifies.

I have a 2005 navigator the shifter is stuck in the parking position the button moves in a little but not all the way and the shifter does not moves is there any other way of puting it to work

Its a sensor under the brake. You can actually pull the shifter with a little force and it will go into gear. It will cost about $400 at a good garage. Looking at $600 and more at dealer. When you force it into gear, you are not hurting the transmission, just over riding the sensor. Your "D" will not light up on the dash or at the shifter untiol you fix it.
