Mr ilo dvd R04 recorder is locked at the hello screen!!!!

These ilo R04 only record on 4x speed or slower, the new 8x or 16x won't work or will damage laser.The new variable speed discs work,these say 1x-16x.
Some brands of discs won't work in Ilo's.Try name brands disc like Sony, cheap brands often won't work.
Have you cleaned laser use commercial disc cleaner?Laser can be manually cleaned with a Qtip soaked in rubbing alcohol but this requires opening dvd burner.If you do this make sure electrical plug is pulled, laser will cause serious burns if you remove top while still plugged in.

First of all you dont need to send the TV, the manufacturer have to pay to send a tech over your place and fix it at your entire satisfaction or replace it.

I was having the same problem. My DVDR04 was working fine. And after about four months of not using it I desired to use it. Turned it on and everything was in black in white. After searching on line and e-mailing Ilo which I never got an answer. I finally tried using an RCA video (Yellow) cable on the line out video jacks, replacing the line out S-Video jack/cable and it worked fine back in color right away.

Could be you have been double-crossed by the used drive. Installation is pretty easy as the data and power cables are both keyed (check the pins on the drives data cable connector to make sure they are not bent). Only other thing I can suggest on the replacement drive is to make sure it set to "MASTER".

I suppose you could try another drive just to confirm that the issue is in the replacement. WalMart sells an internal 22x LITEON DVD Writer for $39, Bar Code 44149 00406 (others may not be IDE) that you can test or permanently repair with.

To test, unplug your ilo and simply:

1.Setthe new 22x drive to MASTER (comes set as slave out of box, see theirdocumentation or the drives cover switch legend markings).

Note: If you want to test using a pre-recorded commercial DVD you will need to do step 2 and first install it in a PC. You can, however, test a blank DVD+R at this point by just connecting the cables.

2. If you wish to play commercial DVD's in your ilo, you must first install this DVD writer in a PCand play part of a studio recorded commercial DVD. This will set the units Region Code.If you don't do this, the drive will not play commercial DVD's (it willnot start or it will lock after copyright screens). If you don't wishto play commercial DVD's in your player, you don't have to do thisstep... it will play DVD's it creates just fine without it.

3. Take off the top of the ilo and move the flat data cable and the power connector to the new 22x drive.

4.Re-test all your issues. If your problems go away then you need the newdrive. If not, the only other user action I can think of short ofmaking sure all the cables are tight is to reload the firmware(http://www.ilohelp.com./download2.htm) but that assumes you can get past "hello" which sounds like you may not be able to do.


The new 22x drive can be installed in the ilo and, with some work,look just like the original from the outside. Some other posts also sayyou can open a hole in the top or back cover for the cables to exit andjust leave the new drive on top of the ilo. Not crazy about that optionbut up to you.

I have used my Protron portable DVD Player one time -- I am taking an overnight trip and tried to charge it up -- it will not charge, the LED light will not come on and it will not work when plugged in the a wall outlet. I can seem to get a toll-free support number -- please I do HELP!!

DVD 8X discs are abundant on Ebay. I perfer Memorex +R myself.

These R04 are fickle,some Brands of DVD discs won't work in ILO,try another brand.Also clean laser in iLO it may be dirty,use commercial cleaning disc,put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushes.Do not use any other chemical.
It is possible you laser is defective or starting to go.If that's the case you need to replace burner/loader.
Some dvd recorders formulate a little differently,I have made recordings in my iLo that won't work in all brands of players/recorders.

have you close the disc

You have the wrong firmware,or cd is corrupted.These Liteon recorders have had some issues with the timers.The 5005xa can actually be transformed into the Ilo R04.Look on internet the Wizard has free firmware for your unit, look for iLO R04 which is almost identical to your unit.
If the remote is broke they are easy to replace ,if the recorder is a 5005xa the remote is a clone to ones used in the iLO RO4,used ones can be bought on Ebay for $10 to $20.If it is 5005XSA use the Liteon Rm 51 remote.The Gateway AR 230 recorder and some of the Akai remotes are clones to the Liteon5005XSA remotes.
