The printer driver settings override the printer settings unless you tell the driver to use the printer settings. You can tell by setting the printer setting and saving it permanently. Print a configuration label. Send a label to the printer. Print another configuration label. Compare the config labels and If it changed, then the driver changed it. Set the driver as above and it will not change when you print.

Try entering the Menu system and exiting, whilst exiting and instead of saving permanent, cycle around to load defaults. once you have done that make sure the settings are as you need such as Thermal Transfer etc and save permanent. You won't have a problem after that. If you do I would be checking the page setup in the software to make sure it fits the lables.

SOURCE: For ZM400 and S4M, Has anyone had any luck with
You can try this: on the S4M, you can press the Menu key to go into setup mode. Under password level 3 parameters, there is a setting for ribbon which by default is set to Yes thermal trans. If you set it to No for direct thermal mode, this will in effect turn off the ribbon sensor. The printer won't stop now if it runs out of ribbon but usually you are there when printing to see that the ribbon is running out.
On other Zebras, you can turn down the sensitivity of the RIBBON LED sensor but the S4M doesn't have that setting.
See if that helps.
