The problem is your LCD at the top is already busted and have to replace!

You should bring that DS Lite to your dealer repair shop to have the LCD replace.

The top surface of the lower ds screen can be replaced very cheaply. It's not the LCD screen, but the "digitizer" or touch screen.
You can get them on ebay for like $5:

If you don't have the know how to replace it yourself, maybe you can order the part and bring it to a repairman.

Each time you charge your battery, the charge capacity is decreased. After a large amount of charges, the capacity is decreased to an amount only enough to turn on a/the screen(s) for a second. Try getting a new battery.

Check on Ebay, u can get the TOP lcd if it's that... I have read on how to replace it, and u will need to desolder the 2 speakers from the lcd!, here is a page on how to dissasemble it!

you need to replace the lower lcd,(not the touch screen) pick one up on ebay for $12.00

or for $40.00 have a repair person do it also on ebay under repair nintendo ds lite

hey i think i got a solution, read the link i gave below credits to votahuan, its for adjusting screen flickers in both top and lower screen of ndsl, however i need you to do me a favor in return, hope you do not mind posting up the pics for me at [email protected] once you found the two hidden screw at ndsl, im just having hard time finding it in fat nds, so i need a rough i dea of where it mite be located. That means the upper screen cable is either broken or not insert it right. If you try to insert it all the way and it still doesn't work, then you will need to buy a new top LCD to replace it. Thanks.
