Re: also had a power surge,...
The GE (actually RCA) 46GW945 uses the PTK195 chassis. There is a separate power supply for the convergence circuits in those sets. The earlier versions used a switching transistor but most sets use the STK730-010 power IC. I have seen many of those IC's stop working after a power surge, resulting in very curved sides with screwy colors. You can remove the back and you will see the 2 main boards at the bottom of the set. The convergence power supply board is mounted above the board on the right (when viewed from the back) and has a pretty large black IC mounted on a little heat sink, labeled STK730-010. Replace that IC and the colors should return to normal. If you do not have experience replacing IC's and working on TV's then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

This is a problem with the convergence circuit. It is relatively easy to fix. It is caused by either poor solder connections or defective convergence ICs. Please update this with the model number of the set so I can provide the probable parts and costs.
Ur tv it beginning to create and will develope a simtom call "Convergence alignment"These problems will delope in to the picture will have shades of colors like red or blue shadows, the picture bows in coners and colors will misaligns, the picture look like u watching a 3D movies, and the tv sometimes, just die and making chirpings sound. This problems very common in DLP tvs,it will develope just sonner or later that all.The covergence problems, the only way to fix are to take the tv aparts take out the Pc board call The Convergence board.Change the 2 STK convergence ICS,and some or all it supporting resitors and pico fuses.
actually when JVC tv's turn green the light engine is going bad. I repair lots and lots of these. The engine can be rebuild for about $500 installed. IT is a known problem for us tv techs. I have 1 engine left if you know a tech who can install it. These sell for $300. This fixes the problem which is the green chip color breaking down and smearing. All whites look green. The best way to tell is to turn the color all the way down and see if you still see green tint. It works best on a black and whit picture if poss. but any will do. Usally it shows more in one section on the picture but is green all over. my number is 270-996-7629 if you have any questions.
If the convergence is missing in the menu in screens, you have a bad reg ic on the convergence power supply the part number is 215530,the power supply is located on the black plastic above the right module with all the heat sinks
Your problem is a bad main filter, a regulator IC ,and or a combination of a convergence problem along with a vertical IC going bad. This set is not something you should mess with unless your a trained tech. Please seek a pro to assist you with this repair. good Luck
