It's a bad Sirius tuner. You can find them on ebay for 50 or so rebuilt and they are better than new. It's cold solder joints on the antenna input plug. Hope this helps
I had the same problem. If your radio is a kit and not factory installed in your vehicle it could be the magnetic antenna on top of your car. I had mine for about two years and from moving the radio around, or docking and undocking it, the wire from the antenna broke. It was not cut all the way through but it was enough to cause it to loose the signal. Check your antenna where it plugs into the back of the unit.
Buy radio shack electronic contact cleaner (in a can) and spray a small amount on the male connector from the antenna wire, and spray a small amount on the male connector in the base of the Sportster that the sportster interfaces with. Place the antenna connector onto the base unit and remove it several times and swirl it while connected. Place the sportster into and remove it from the base several times. This usually will fix the issue. Sat signals are extremely sensitive to the slightest oxidation or dirt or whaterver on that tiny antenna connection point.
Carl- If you are sending a Line Level Audio signal to your ONKYO RECEVER, from your Sirus RCA cable Output, IE, the CD input, the VCR input, the AUX in, ETC. No Need to have the RECEIVER in the FM mode, you are just needing amplificaton of the sound signal or Sirus signal sound.
soft reset. get in turn on truck with door shut turn on sat radio on ch 184. turn off radio turn off truck and take keys out. next open door fully for 90 seconds. shut door. turn on truck. turn on radio and have sirius reset it. its called a soft reset.
I had the same problem and I replaced my car antenna. That resulted in immediate signal improvement. But three months later, the same thing. So, another dot micro car antenna. Three months later, the signal went out again. The home kit worked perfectly. In my case, I bought a Sirius outdoor home antenna and replaced the standard indoor/outdoor antenna that came with the home kit. I took the home kit antenna and connected it to my S50 car kit and positioned the antenna on the front of the dash. No problems since then. Not one. Those dot antennas are horrible. I'd check that before getting a new radio.
