I just used it for the first time, and now I can't get it off to use it in floor mode again!

What I tried and it worked for me is to losen the hose slightly from where it connects to the long plastic tube on the side to allow the little hole to show. What that does is to lessen the suction power a little since the problem is that the suction is too powerful on the carpet and the roller freezes.

Yeah it will work fine...
Here is a tip that I wrote about the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop and why it maynot be getting steam to the head...

SOURCE: Shark SV736R motorized brush won't rotate
The 2 metal pins of the motorized brush are not in contact with the vacuum cleaner. or the Motorized brush is clogged up. You have mentioned that it is cleaned, but still give a thorough inspection. For the metal pins, firmly insert the motorized brush into the air-intake nozzle. This will connect the motorized nozzle to the unit power supply.
SOURCE: my brush won't turn on
I had the same problem, I took out the brush and found that dog hair had worked its way under the gear and around the axle. I had to get a small pair of scissors and cut it out and pull it out with tweezers until it turned freely again.
