My HP Officejet Pro L7780 faxes off & on. Motor is running w/in ADF, but the pick assembly does not grab paper

I put an elastic band around the black roller as it doesnt seem big enough and it works nearly every time now. Have done this with another L7780 Pro as well which fixed it completely on that one.

try this...

> unplug the power chord while the printer is turned on
> press and hold the # and 3 button on the printer at the same time and while holding it, insert the power chord.
> a semifull reset would be done
> after that try to fax.

i have hp offecejet v 40 i am receiving an error message off hook. i have checked all the connections and the phone it is connected to is not off the hook_____________thanks shirley

default ring is 5.
if need to change the ring, then you will be in maual answer mode.
better choice is to change the ring on the phone and the answer machine.
