The washer doesn't always spin in both directons when washing... and now when filling up with new water the water runs out at the bottom behind the front panel. There is also water to be heard between the drum and bottom of the machine. Can it be fixed easily?
It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways and
is the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it is
important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the
identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water has
leaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on the
underside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here.
In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of the
house and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside.
Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be loose
on the grip which can all cause the leak to occur. Removing and cleaning the
drain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water can
leak if there are gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but this
will happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end. Tips for leak: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1461/do-you-have-a-leaky-washing-machine.html

Cant understand how the machine will revolve on the 'spin cycle' & yet you can hear the motor on the 'wash cycle' but yet it doesnt revolve!!
Nomally if the water fills, & the tub revolves without the programmer advancing, its because the heater is not working. ie faulty thermostat, heat element, or maybe a wire burned off in the 'heater circuit'. Check if you have 240 volts at both ends of the heat element, with a meter or 240 volt bulb
!! BE CAREFUL OF 240VOLTS!!

arlenekc : The water pump needs replaced.
malibu66,: Replacing the pump is not difficult at all.
In the above cases, Tilt the machine back so you have access to the bottom. (It there is a soft bottom plate you will have to remove it.) The pump it located on the bottom of the motor and is held on by two clips. Remove the hoses ant then the clips. The pump should slide off the motor shaft. If the pump does not come off then you will have to break it off. DO NOT pry on the motor or shaft. Once the pump is off check the motor shaft for any rust or build-up. This will have to be removed before a new pump is installed.
Line the pump up to the motor shaft to get it in place and put the unit back together then check the operation.
LITTLEGIRL4 Open the lid and find the water flume where the water comes in. This flume gets out of position sometimes. Start filling the machine and watch the flume. If there is water dripping or running down the sides toward the rear then the flume is not in position or has been damaged.

HI .THANKS FOR YOUR QUESTION. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE WATER PUMP.REMOVE 2 SCREWS AT BOTTOM OF FRONT PANEL . PUMP ON RIGHT .REMOVE HOSES AND CLEAN OUT THANKS THE APPLIANCE DOC.
SOURCE: old model rca washer machine...will not agitate/wash the clothes, does spin.
If the washer fills up with water and you hear the motor running but the agitator doesn’t move, the agitator coupling is the most likely problem. First pump the water out by turning the timer to spin. Once the water is out, turn the washer off. Now pull up on the agitator until it comes off (it may be hard to pull off). Now that the agitator is off, you can see the agitator coupling, reach down and try to turn the coupling. If the coupling turns freely, it is striped out and needs to be replaced.
Hello Deanna Lytle - Often when a unit does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.
