Error 5 Can anyone help me by solving a problem with the kodak I40 scanner. Just got it new, but everytime when try to scan some forms, within a few seconds an error appears (E 5). The power on turns into red after a few blinks. Disconnecting the cables and switching it off and on doesn't work. After switching it off and on, the power on turns green again, but no chance to scan any forms at all. Thanks in advance

i also had an error E8 on my Kodak i40 scanner. What does this means? How will I solve it? the unit was working until i encounter this problem. no effect even turning on and off with the scanner.

I can't seem to find a error code 5. What software are you using to scan? Did the error start right after your first? Had the scanner been working?

Everytime I scan a document in grayscale theres always error so I have to rescan it again. So what do you think is the problem? The settings?

Does it error when you use the scan validation tool ? if not its probably a software setting

E6 means the scanner cover is open .
Please check for any open covers or any movable parts which is not closed.

Error 8 in scanner i40

try to open it, there will be small short mirrors under black plactic covers, remove that thin covers and clean the mirror well and put it back. it has to remove the E8 error

Check kds.log -this is my massage error when i press scan option at canner kodak i 260 "check KDS log" messge error appears when scan option chosen on i40 Kodak Scanner.

Try Calibration routine. If it fails check optics are clean and not scratched. If it still fails change the lamps.The KDS.log is encrypted and can only be accessed via a license key. This is only Available to Kodak reps or through RTS ltd service calls.

Kodak i40 Scanner - paper jamming

First clean with a damp cloth, then try Isopropyl Alcohol. Dont use solvents. Check if papers are sticky. Stapled papers are 'sticky' even after removing staples. loosen them if required. Notmally rollers last 200,000 to 250,000 scans

Scanning problem

May be you have selected multipage option. Then all the pages will be part of the same file, you can view them in 'Windows picture & Fax viwer' You need to page down to see the images. Scan only the first page and check the file size. If this file size and the earlier one are different, then it confirms that you have chosen multipage option!

Hi,

Try downloading the latest Firmware for the Kodak i40 Scanner at the following Kodak.com page: http://graphics.kodak.com/docimaging/US/en/Products/Document_Scanners/Desktop/i40_Scanner/Support/Drivers_And_Downloads/i30_and_i40_Scanner_Firmware/index.htm

Follow the instructions carefully, and make sure that the scanner and the PC DO NOT turn off while doing the Firmware update. I recomend connecting both to a UPS with a known good battery while doing this upgrade.

This should install the latest features including the one that enables front feed.

Acrobat 8.1

Upgrade to Acobat 9.0 Pro. It seems to work in that can scan pages for a document, HOWEVER, adding/appending to already scaned pages for a document seems to crash 9.0. For example, say I scan in pages 1 - 4. I cannot then scan pages 5 -6 as part of the same document--crashes Acrobat.

I think this finally proves the problem is Acrobat 8.0 and NOT the i40 drivers.
