Power Shutting Off #2

I am having the same problem as the person who's Symphonic SC313D is shutting off after about 10-15 seconds. I have already removed the VCR part totally from the unit, but it still is shutting off after 10-15 seconds. Any additional ideas? IS there a specific sensor that can be checked on the PCB? Thanks.....Willy

The set will shut down with the deck removed. Replaced both end sensors and the LED between the reel and that should solve your problem.

Find code for symphonic tv remote

very few if any universal remotes will work on Symphonic which is also Funai and some other brands.

Look on Ebay or Google the model number of the set with the word remote, remember not a universal.

We just bought a used Symphonic 13" TV/VCR. turns on for 3 seconds and shuts off! Help. There's a tape stuck in it also. Help! Thanks, Jay

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an Akai, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. In any event, this is most likely, a fairly inexpensive repair, but as related ask for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair.

Is this tv able to use the convertor box to get digital signals?

Here is the manual: http://www.symphonic.us/pdf/om/SC313D.pdf Follow the instructions for connecting a cable box to connect your converter box. Front panel buttons can be used to make menu selections if you do not have a remote.

It is not HD , if this is wat you are asking.
if you have cable or are yousing sat you will have no problems reciving signals.

Do I need a dtv digital converter box for my Symphonic SC313D 13 inch tv?

Pretty much a hoax on those diverter boxes. People ran out and bought them thinking that won't have reception. I have many years in maintenance and several years in nursing homes with different tv's in every room. Not once have I needed a box to pick up channels with or without cable. I myself get 16 channels with rabbit ears and thats enough for me. And I do own a combo as well and it has simple antenna and does me just fine. Depending on your location, the old tv antennas we use to put on our houses...they work amazing! Might be able to snag one on a freecycle or craigslist site. Good luck! :)

Power shut off

The set is still sensin a problem thats why it shuts off, in this units the problem is in the vcr section,check the cassette assambly sometimes is jammed and it will not load or one side of the cassette tray is pushed in too far or misaligned.It will continuo to shutdown until the problem is corrected.Be careful when working on it.
