Question about Fuji FinePix V10 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Black screen when i turn on the camera to take a picture, the screen is black - similar to a TV being on but no picture. I can view previous pictures I have taken on the screen - it's just in picture taking mode that the screen is black.

This is a system failure Tell Fuji Support about it but I fear any repair offer will be nearly the price of a new camera- unless of course it is still under warranty

When the camera is in take a picture mode, the view finder is black. When viewing pictures pictures previously taken, they are show on the view finder. Why is it black in this mode?

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

New pictures I am taking with my camera are showing up completely black. I can view previously saved pics on the SD card on the screen, but any new pics only come up black. Any ideas what this could be?

Camera turns on, lens goes out, but it is black, see nothing through it or on lcd screen (yes, cover is off). There is no error messages, still takes pictures but just black. Can view previous pictures on...

It coud be a very common IRIS/Shutter stuck problem...this has been reported on lot of S3 IS & S2 IS cameras... just search for this on web and you'll find a temporary solution also (related to taking battery out in the middle of taking picture during a long exposure (15" in Tv mode), but for more permanent fix you need take it back to Canon service center

Black LCD and Viewfinder

I have the similar problem as above...Canon 5D

When camera is turned on the viewfinder is black. All other functions appear to be working correctly. I can view pictures on the card. I take a picture and it views on the screen and the spec's come up on the botton of the view finder but the viewfinder is 90 black with a bit of blur. Is this the censor or a mirror...?

Is this fixable and at what approximate cost? Would it be cheaper to replace?
