Question about Sony Ericsson W550i Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Phone got wet and now the keys are all screwy.

I got caught in a torrential downpour yesterday but, as much as i tried to keep my phone as safe as possible, it did get quite wet as well. I didn't notice that it was messed up until a couple of hours later that the only keys that worked were the back button, the side play/pause button, the 9, and the 1. I let it dry for several hours with the battery and sim out, and the orange covers as well, and then the phone starting acting really strange: Now the power, play/pause, volume, web, walkman, back button, the button right above the back button, right, left and middle navigational buttons, the 9, 1, 8, 0, and 5 buttons all work correctly, however the others are a real problem. If the phone is automatically locked, then the lock side switch works, but if it's unlocked and I use that button to switch it to lock, it plays my walkman. The up and down navigational buttons don't work unless you hold down the button and then let go, hoping that it stops on the desired selection. The C button turns on the web. The button right above the C button does whatever the button on the opposite side does. The camera button plays the walkman. And all of the other number buttons do odd combinations (like pressing ?2? comes up 762 and # comes up 8, etc.). I let the phone dry again in the same manner overnight and still the same situation. I just bought the phone (online and not as part of a special offer or anything) and I really want to see if there?s anything I can do before I bring it to a specialist... My boyfriend suggested resetting the phone (as the sim card is not affected)... Do you think this would work? Help!

I have a Sony Ericsson k550i. I dropped it in a beer at a party this weekend. I never dried it out or anything because I woke up drunk and just kept using the phone.
-LEFT SELECT KEY produces a ZERO and a FIVE.
    -RIGHT SELECT KEY works properly.
-The LEFT button causes the cursor to go LEFT, UP, and ENTER.
-The UP button causes the cursor to go UP and ENTER.
    -RIGHT works fine.
    -DOWN works fine.
-RETURN takes me immediately to my phone book or photo album and asks me if I want to delete either a contact or a picture.
-THE C KEY produces the same result as the RETURN.
-ONE produces a SIX, ONE, and VOLUME.
    -TWO works.
    -THREE works.
-FOUR produces a FOUR and a SEVEN.
-FIVE produces a ZERO, FIVE, and ENTER.
-SIX makes a SIX and a ONE.
-SEVEN makes a FOUR, SEVEN, and ASTERISK.
    -EIGHT works.
    -NINE works.
-ASTERISK makes a FOUR, SEVEN, and ASTERISK
-ZERO produces a ZERO and hits ENTER.
    -POUND works.
I totally dismantled the phone with a torx screwdriver and found some condensation deep inside. I took a blow drier (on a cold setting) to the exposed insides for about a half hour. I then cleaned out everything with Q-Tips. I reassembled it, fired it up, and there was not the slightest change in the performance of this #$%king phone.

My Safelink Wireless phone got wet while I was out in a recent storm and hasn't worked since. What do you suggest I do?

Not a good thing to happen, you can try taking battery and covers off and leaving the phone in a warm dry place for a few days and hope that all the internal componts will dry and that they have not been damaged. Otherwise you will have to replace the phone.

We have a ESA406K-L Haier 6000 btu and the reset button keeps tripping are air conditioner will not turn on at all.

Is this reset on the plug? if so its likely bad, bypass and test, if it works get another end or wire to a fused disconnect which would be jn place of, unorthodox, but safe.

My phone got wet.Now the keys won't work, except the turn on/off key.I can't type in my PIN code. That happned yesterday. What should I do?

When your mobile gets wet you need to immediately remove all you items in the phone like SIM, Memory card and Battery and wipe . Immediately after that go to a service centre and give it for repair. They will wipe your mobile with petrol and check if the mobile is in good condition even after getting wet in the water.

Nokia 6300 key pad not working

Solution 1.Any time your phones gets wet or by accident the phone falls off in a pool of water the best remedy is to take the batteries off immediately, don't turn the power key on, and wait for 24 hours for the phone to dry out completely.

Solution 2. Alternate solution is go to settings, select call, select anykey answer, this way u won't need the answer key any more,

Solution 3. Change the keypad,go to the nokia service center.
