Change region I bought my C-5280 in Germany (zone 2), then relocated to Thailand (zone1). Is there a way to change the zone in the printer to be able to use local ink cartridges Thank you

Hi peterute,

sorry there is no solution.

HP (maybe other manufacturers too) distribute locally. So the cartridges are more expensive here then anywhere else.
The costs are caused maybe by tax, logistics, but also by regional conditions.
F.e: Customers in Asia buy cartridges for lower costs than in Europe due to GDP.
So the only way is to call HP (phone, chat, mail) and request new codes for the printer. The codes will never be publicated to prevent missuse.

Hope it helps,
Henning

Bought an HP Deskjet 3520e All in One Printer in the UK. Retired to Zimbabwe. The UK cartridges finished. Bought local equivalent . They were not compatible. I gather I need to phone UK or SA Customer...

Yes, you can either contact HP technical support (sorry I could not locate the local number, HP's site kept sending me to their Sure Supply portal), and for $25 they will provide you with the service menu access procedure to change the 'regional code' inside your printer which will then allow the Zimbabwe cartridges to function (i.e. change from regional zone 2 to zone 4), or you can refer to Inkjet411's diagnostic document which provides service menu access procedures for most of HP's printers (refer to .pdf file on the following Inkjet411.com support page): http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1813

Can't the technician be consulted again for the answer? Otherwise the manual would be the best place to start!

Brazilian regionalization zone code???

To change the region there is a special report to be printed from the printer from which some numbers are to be taken which belong to the printers firmware these numbers are to be given to HP they ll run an algorithm on it and then it can be regionalized... one printer can only change a region 3 times....

Change region codess on printer hp c3180

Hi ,
Let me fist inform you that the question you asked for is related to "regionalization" of the printers . It is very particular to HP printers.
You can just regionalize your printer thrice in the enitre printer lifetime - not more than that. And the codes you are referring to - they are not there somewhere - they have to be logged in by the back end team who decode the "10-tap test" to re-enter the codes for regionalization so that the printer becomes compatible in the region you are using it in.
The cartridges even change in every country to make the printer work - let me state you how.....as per www.hp.com
HP Photosmart C3100 All-in-One series This product uses regionalized ink supplies, so the inkjet print cartridges for the product depends on where you are in the world. If you do not know which pen regionalization zone you are in, click here to view the Regionalization Country-to-Zone Mapping Table . Once you know the zone, you can identify the cartridges used in this product. Cartridge Description Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4 black inkjet print cartridge HP 92 HP 336 HP 132 HP 850 tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 93 HP 342 HP 136 HP 854 black inkjet print cartridge Not availaible HP 338 HP 131 Not available tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 95* HP 343 HP 135 HP 855 photo inkjet print cartridge HP 99 HP 348 HP 138 HP 858 *The HP 95 is not compatible with printers sold only in North America; instead, use the HP 93 Tri-color cartridge. Refer to the link to understand how the world is divided into 4 zones - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpa00586&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1146331#zone_mapping And you can beleive into what i say as I work for HP printers....! the best i would suggest is to call up Technical / Customer Care centre and tell them you need to reset....they will assist you for 10-tap test and ask you to send them the 10-tap test and the Proof of Purchase of the region cartridges.....and then wait for the back end team to call you within the next 48 hours.

You are prompted with a list of languages. You can scroll through the list of

3. Press OK on the appropriate language.
4. When prompted, press OK to select Yes or Cancel to select No.
You are prompted with a list of countries/regions for the selected language.
5. Press to select the appropriate country/region, and then press OK.
6. When prompted, press to select Yes or No, and then press OK.
You can confirm the language and country/region by printing a Self-Test Report,
as follows:
1. Press Setup until Print Report appears, and then press OK.
2. Press until Self-Test Report appears, and then press OK
