Toshiba A105 keeps Restarting ---

Toshiba A105 with WinXP will not boot. Press the ON button and nothing happens(suspect button not making good contact with ON Switch. After pressing ON button several times in different places the ON LED will light, the splash screen will appear for a moment then the sreen goes black. The power, battery, and ON indicator LEDs stay lit. The ON button LED stays lit while the system continually starts and turns off every 3-1/2 seconds without another splash screen.

Holding down the F8, F10, or F2 key gives no results. Depressing the ON button for 4+ seconds will not turn the system off. I Can not boot from the HD or DVDROM. The only way to stop the "restarting" is remove the battery. I have tried removing the HD in case it was causing an overload that might contribute to the restarting; no difference.

Do you know of anything that might help short of removing or replacing the motherboard? Your input is appreciated.

Finally resolved the problem. The daughter-board micro switches all worked so I checked the buttons above the switches. The ON button was damaged and stays depressed causing the reboots. Filed the rough edge off the ON button and put a spot of airplane glue under the button directly above the micro switch. Problem solved

I have a Toshiba A75-S2112 laptop. I hit the debug button when it was booting up and now it will not boot-up to anything. It just sits there with a black screen and the fan turned off. I am trying to...

The computer starts but, when you press a key, nothing happens.

You are probably in Standby mode and have a software or

resource conflict. When this happens, turning the power on

returns you to the problem instead of restarting the system.

To clear the condition, press Ctrl, Alt, and Del simultaneously

then select Shutdown, then Restart to restart the computer.

My laptop(Toshiba Satellite A105 - S2051) wont turn on with or without battery on a/c adapter. Adapter seems to have a charge but when i plug it in and try hitting the power button nothing happens. I do...

hi, this is tricky, as the machine does seem to freeze even before booting. the fan may have become stuck, use some compressed air with the fan inlet (bicycle pump may do) to clean out some dust.

wait some time and switch on again.
observe if the green lamps for harddrive and cd-drive light up.
if no, the computer does not boot up, it may be then that :

the fan is broke and laptop prevents overheat damage by not booting up(buy a new fan and replace it)

or the machine itself is broke
in either way, if the solution i provided did not help, i would recommend to see a technician!

good luck then

Problem with installing new windows OS on toshiba A105

You should put the drive back in the external caddy, delete the format, partition the drive for NTFS. format the drive and set as active.

Toshiba A105 will not boot up even with cd and f12

its not a booting issue if you hear the music, it loaded windows. you might have a display issue, shine a light on it to see if you can see any faint images, if you can the backlights out if not it might be the display adapter on the MOBO, in either situation calling toshiba would be required for a repair, or otherwise take it into a shop, but first try a power reset,

unplug it and remove the battery, then hold the power button down for one minute, replace the battery and power cord and try to boot again. if this fails call toshiba, its definately a hardware issue.

Problem restarting, "press r"

  1. Start the laptop
  2. when the logo screen turns black start pressing F8 a few times.
  3. A Windows Boot Options screen should show on the screen
  4. If you see the Windows Logo (the normal thing when Windows loads, then press reset and try again
  5. At the Windows Boot Options screen select "Last known good configuration" and press Enter twice
It "should" now load normally, if not then..
  1. Replace step 5 above with "Safe Mode" and see if that loads all the way through. If so, then restart and see if its OK now.
If not, then post back with any error messages and we can look at something else.

Toshiba a100 laptop

Definitely try without the battery. These models are known to have a "short" problem, usually with the palm rest, which causes this failure, although it usually is more sporatic, and doesn't happen 100% of the time.
Also, can you remove all but 1 piece of memory.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.
