Question about Dell Dimension 4500 PC Desktop
First, if you are not familiar with installing components I would recommend you have it installed for you. Some major office supply stores will install a card you buy from them for little money or even free. Or you can find a local computer upgrade / repair shop that can do it. Your computer most likely has very large round plastic buttons on the top and bottom edge near the back. The bottom may be partially blocked by a screw on base stand. If so, remove that first. You press both buttons at the same time and open the case like a book. Near the bottom back corner should be some white circuit card slots. You may have to pull out a small metal box to gain access to adding cards. Typically Dell uses green levers, buttons, etc inside the case you use to remove parts. A metal slot cover blank will have to be removed, some just slide off, some have a single screw holding them in place. Installing a PCI card into the white plug should not be difficult but should be seated all the way down and eavenly. If a screw is used to remove the metal slot cover use that screw to hold the card in place. Put everything back the way it was and close the case. You will need to install the drivers that came with the card. Follow the directions for your card. Just in case you were not aware. You do need a receiver (wireless router or access point) that will send the signal to your card. I've had quite a few customers that thought all you needed was the card.
