I have a latitude, The last time I was using it, it shut off automatically. When I tried to turn it back on, all the of the lights (the capslock, numlock, power, battery Exc.) come on but the computer shut back off. I called Dell to see if they could tell me over the phone what it was, but they were no help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Pull the hard drive out and use an adaptor and hook up your hard drive to a desk top computer . Run a virus scan on it with the latest protection. run spyware and adware scan too. Defrag it and check it for errors. After that put it back into your laptop and reboot. Still doesn't work which out the memory and check to see if the processor cooling fan is working. If you hard drive doesn't work when you hook it up to desktop you know it is bad. Make sure you hookit up right. You can get an adaptor on Ebay for a couple of bucks plus shipping.

Hello try removing the battery keep the ac adapter on and power again. if it does not come on then you have a power problem. try swapping the memory or replacing it. another issuecould be temperature related. if the system fan or the cpu fan is defective it can have an adverse effect onthe system board. since your system shutdown by itself, your CPU could have been damaged or relatively your system board.

It could be one of two things, Memory or system board. Try and switch the memory chips around. If you have one memory chip, try the other slot. If you have two chips, try just one chip. If you don't have any luck with that, replace the memory chip. If no luck with that, you'll need a new system board. EBAY would be your best bet to get one.
