We got this tv from a friend a few months ago.The remote control the guy brought us didnt work with the tv, so we went out and bought a universal remote. We recently tried hooking up our dvd player to the tv. The only way for us to hook the dvd player up to the tv is on the front of the tv. Thats all fine and dandy, However in order for us to watch a dvd u would think that we have to push the input button to make it switch to "dvd mode" but the input button does nothing to the tv. So I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how in the world do you get the input channel to work with a universal remote? Or if there is any other way to get our dvd player to work with this tv

Re: the input button
On some sets you can use the menu button to enter the menu and navigate to the page which shows what input is currently selected and change it there. If your set does not have that option, then you will need the remote to do it. I have found that on some universal remotes, the TV/VCR button switches the inputs on the TV when the remote is in the TV mode. If that button does not work on your remote for your set, and you have tried all possible codes for JVC TVs, then the only way to switch inputs is to invest a few dollars more and get an original remote from JVC or have the set repaired so that the input button on the TV functions again.

I am a maintenance guy at a hotel and have seen this problem quite a few times, this pic i sent is an app on my phone that i can control any tv with, check your app store for an LG remote app or if you are unsuccessful there are plenty of universal remote apps, does your tv have any buttons on it, i'd check screen adjustment, source, tools, menu, etc make sure the original remote didnt get wet or sticky, if nothing else works factory reset it, hope this helps
infrared board may have a fault. its in the front part on the board with the buttons. the infrared receiver may be going or gone it looks like a square led. that picks up the signal light from the remote.
I had this problem on a symphonic 27 inch TV I just bought from a friend
who no longer had a remote. The thing with the menu and buttons on the
front of the TV doesn't actually change the TV to true game mode. I
don't know what it acutally does, but it isn't really in game mode.
When it is in true "game mode" you can't change the channels until you turn game mode off. What I did was bought a universal remote (a specific one that someone
told me about) for 8 bucks at walmart and I was then able to switch to
game mode with the Input select on the remote. The remote I bought that
actually worked is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Magnavox-PM435S-4-Device-Universal/dp/B00006686A/ref=acc_glance_ce_ai_-2_1_tit/002-3174824-8273629 Make
sure you look at it before you buy it and make sure it has a button
that specifically says "input" on it. I know that some of the universal
remotes don't have an input select button or one that doesn't work. As
long as you get a Philips-Magnavox that has that button, you should be
ok. Much better solution that paying 30 bucks for a new remote
specifically for the TV. Hope this helps.
Your in the video mode so you have to change the input. On the original remote, its the button left of the power button. A universal may not work for this. If you need the original remote, Its available at http://www.remotes.com Good Luck
Most functions on my remote control don't work
