My plasma TV turns itself off and there's nothing I can do to get it come back on...
When I turn my TV on, it automatically turns itself back off and the red LED light (next to the green power one) blinks 3 times every few seconds or so. I tried unplugging the TV altogether and it didn't help.
Any ideas?

My TV has 2,5 years and worked very well since last week, when I tried to turn it on and the red light began blinking all the time.
I´ve tried to unplug it and once I was successfull to get it back to work.

Firmware is avialable for download on the philips web site. The latest one that is the bundle of mutiple patches may not patch all the problems. Looks like it has to be applied indivdually..

This is going to sound stupid, but I have a 42" Philips plasma that'd been having the same problem lately. Eventually, I checked the power cord--have you ever noticed that the cord just hangs straight down from the bottom of the set? My guess is that over time, it slowly gets loosened by gravity, just a bit, so you get a fluttery power connection. Anyway, it didn't feel loose, but I pushed the power cord in as hard as I could, and I haven't had a problem since.

Re:
Sounds like you might need a firmware upgrade try calling philips and they might send you one on a usb memory stick depends on the situation or if that doesnt work your looking at a faulty component in the small signal board
When I turn on my tv it turn itself off and the red light next to the green power start blinking. when I unplug it.but when I turn it the problem repeat itself.

Even when you don't like this, it must have detected an error. To avoid more damage, it will switch off the power. I think it will be the best you ask a tech to check what is wrong. Perhaps it is still a warranty issue so it won't cost you if you call the shop you bought it.
Something blew.... like overheated and just basically blew up..... Was it on for a long time? You may to check your warranty to get it fixed or a new one.... or you may have to just buy a new one....
Basically when it turn itself OFF automatically all the time, the TV goes into "Protection Mode". This happens when there is a damaged circuit board inside the need to be replace and turn itself OFF to protect the other ones from being damaged.
A TV service tech will have to look at it to find out which boards need to be replace. There are about 7 different boards in your TV that would cause this problem.
first unplug it for 10 min then retry it. otherwise it is the power supply, the low voltage and high voltage supply are on the same board, have your tech send it in to be rebuilt if he is unable to do it him or her self.
It's definitely an overheating problem if your plasma turns off by itself after a while. I would suggest to place a cooling fan near the back of it as a temporary fix.
There could be a power supply issue along with a Ysustainer board but in order to know that for sure, you should use a hair drier and blow hot air to the power supply and see if the TV turns off, if the time that the tv turns off is shorter when blowing hot air to the power supply; then is the power supply issue.
Good Luck.
While holding down the reset button on the remote
Press the power button on the tv
(The tv will turn itself off the back on)
Now release the reset button
