Donyale is absolutely correct! This technique also works for the Go 510 model as it did for mine.
Thanks, Took 2 minutes and I am back on the "Go" again!

Re:
Possible back light failure.
don't know about 'repair for this sort of thing
Mu guess is like other small electronics of this type they are made as integrated 'lumps' and there is not a repair option.
Try the Tech support at the TT website
Especially if it is fairly recent.
May be a replacement option

Try first to update the software of your GPS . If that didn't solve the problem and since the button doesn't work I advice you to take it to the service for repairing .
after speaking to another owner of a simulal tomtom go 700 iwas told to pres the restore button at the rear of my unit and that solved that problem. kledwood
i have a tomtom xl i conected it to the computer and now the touch screen doesnt work it turns on ok and displayers the map but if i touch the middle of the screen it selects some thing else is there a way to reset the touch screen back to the centre if you can help plz email me at [email protected]
Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.
If this doesn't help.
contact them about the problem...
