Hi there, I seem to have the same problem. The specific scenario for me is this, the GPS was stored and not used for about a year. I put in the recharger (both AC and car) and I have to wiggle it in order for the system to boot. If I move it, it will turn itself off and it had to wiggle it again to get it to turn on. Once it's on, if I left it in the same position (not move it), it then ask me to touch the cross hair for calibration. I left the unit over night, thinking it may recharge the battery, but it doesn't. As soon as I unplug it goes dead. I wonder if this was the same for you.

Also, where do you get the batterty replaced and for how much?

I have a audi tt kids electric car 12v it has been sat around not doing anything for a couple of months, yesterday I put it on charge for the whole day and its still not working any one know why?

If stored outside, Could be corision on the battery terminals or other connections. Possibly bad battery, how old is it? Auto parts store may be willing to test it for you. Could be the charger is bad. Are you sure it is putting out 12vdc or more? Are you sure the charger is pluged in a socket that actually has power? plug in another appliance or light to check. No power? check circuit breaker box for out of place switch. turn off and back on tor reset.

Mio 168 not charging when using Car Charger

You have to have an ignition switch on, only then to connect a device. It is to protect device against an electric shock.

I have a Mio C220 that does not power on even though battery is charged. Will not work off of battery or plugged into cigarette lighter. Bought it in Nov. 07 but have lost box, receipt, software, and all...

Mio wants people to know, especially the folks who recently bought the Mio C220, that you need to put the SD card in the unit for it to work. The Mio C220 has the maps on the SD Card, and it seems that not everyone knows to put the SD card in the unit before firing it up. No SD card means no working GPS.
Mio Says:
1. Before you power on your C220, insert the SD Card firmly into the slot on the right side of the device
2. Once the SD card has been inserted into the device, power on your C220 by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.
For More information check out the Mio GPS Page on the SD Card for Mio C220
