Question about Panasonic PT-51HX41 51" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Projection TV wil not cut on.

PT-51HX41was working with the blue gun out of convergence arc about 3 inch top and bottom. Finally, unit went out and smelled like flyback had fried. Now, unit shuts off after unplugging ( high voltage). I do not see anything fried inside so I am wondering if I have both a convergence amp issue as well as a flyback transformer issue?

You should first replace the convergence IC's, both of them. Also make sure all the resistors on the convergence IC's are good and not burnt. That's probably what you smelled burning. Good Luck

Panasonic PT-47WXC43G green ONLY is bowed on bottom and top

Hi,
It still convergence chip problem, check big resistors nearby these chips that would be open or devalued and causing problem, specially in green convergence area, your green tube/ gun is just fine and just not getting convergence output signal to show correct image.
I would suggest to download service manual copy of this tv for small fee from any website and fix the issue with schematics help.
Thanks.

This is a common problem. Your convergence has gone out.

Common symptoms are...

1) 3D Video
2) Warped Video
3) Convergence menu does not adjust the red or blue correctly.

Hello hellian82,

The problem is the arcing red tube, it can be replaced or rejuvenated by qualified TV technician. The arcing is the result of a spark gap being formed in the picture tube resulting in a short between the HV anode of the tube and ground. Replacement of the tube is preferred, but the tube can be rejuvenated using a CRT rejuvenator.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Projection RCA P52940

sounds like it is most likely the convergence power supply board, if it were just one color It would most likely be the convergence board itself

Blue Projection Gun

It is not the gun ,but the convergence IC that needs replaced providing that you have went into the tv menu and selected convergence and manually adjusted the blue convergence.
