I have windows 8, and it is the original sims deluxe edition. When I put the disk in, I click install, the disk spins for about 10 seconds and then it stops. Not sure if its something im doing or if it is just too out-dated for my laptop. help please!!
Hi there, I'm a big fan of the Sims games myself. While I don't know a whole lot about Windows 8, I can say I've gotten older games to run on newer operating systems.
What you could do is try right-clicking the E: drive in My Computer where it lists the Sims CD and click Explore. Through that, you should be able to find the Setup.Exe file and try clicking it to run.
You may have to right-click it and run it in Compatibility Mode (I recommend Windows XP SP2, most games work well with that one).
It's a good sign that your drive reads it, it just might not be recognizing the Autorun file.
Good luck with it, if I think of anything else, I'll update.
Pppppppppp

At the back of the games it should have a number on it like 1 2 3 you put them in order the one that says 1 you install first then you carry on the same ..

Does your laptop have a DVD drive? It is likely that the Sims Double Deluxe disk you have is a DVD ROM and not a CD ROM.
If this is not the case, try clicking My Computer and selecting the CD drive to see if the computer recognises the disk at all. Run setup.exe if it does.

hi, best thing to do is to get a "no-cd crack" from one of the file sharing websites eg, piratebay.com. Other than that you could search google for it, you will be give instructions on how to use the crack- its pretty easy. By the way do u know that the picture shows the sims 1?

this is the sims deluxe edition 1. its the oldest one. which is why im not sure if its too outdated for windows 8
or am i supposed to install another game before it? this is the first time im trying to download any version of the sims on this laptop
it is a cd-rom and when i go to my computer it says it does recognize the disk
when the box comes up it says publisher not specified and then if i go to the disk tab on my computer it is named DVD RW Drive (E:) The Sims Deluxe
Something tells me it's probably too outdated. I'm about to try this myself on my Windows 8 Pro installation so I can sell the games. If I manage to make it work, I'll let you know. I know it's an ancient post, but if you still need a way to fix it, what the heck. :b
