I am guess the "-" is really a "a" as you listed in your model#.

This is actually built by LG and stamped GE on the front. So there are two ways you can do this.. The first is to remove the door from the rails, then all the racks, then the rack guides, then the icemaker, then the back wall, then you can use hot water to melt the ice out of the trough (do not use a heat gun because the plastic liner will melt quite easily and be very careful as everything is pretty sharp behind there)

The easier way is to take off the back panel (you would have to do this anyway) and make sure the little black flapper on the bottom of the drain is not all gummed up with lint, pet fur,ect.. Then defrost the unit for 24 hours, unplugged and doors open.

Of course you will need to move your food but your finger, back and knees will thank you!

These tend to clog here anyway and digging the ice out from the inside is a severe pain! Do not cheat the 24 hours and leave the doors open!

SOURCE: water from GE Profile Refrig/freezer drips down

Hi, Is it bypassing the drain or is the drain plugged? The most common is that the drain hole gets iced up and them overflows onto the floor.
Just wanting clarifcation.

SOURCE: Hi GE top freezer fridge - 5 years old( no ice

Well for one thing that unit was manufactured 10 years ago. But it sounds like the defrost drain is clogged and the water is running down the inside of the unit. The evaporator (not condenser) is on the bottom of the freezer compartment. The bottom panel of the freezer comes out. They are a bit of a pain to do, but can be done.

SOURCE: Water in the bottom freezer of a 2000 GE Profile refrigerator

look in bottom at back for drain hole, may be clogged, or even hole frozen over with collected water. Clear the drain hole.

Not sure if the compressor is running. If not, you'll need a repair man. Since fans are running, most likely the thermistor. Also, if you haven't unplug from the wall, wait 10 seconds then plug back in; this may reset the control board. The link below may help. GE Refrigerator Not Cold Enough

GE profile fridge making loud humming noise

The door being open so long caused warm moist air to collect and freeze inside the unit.

Take everything out, unplug it and let it thaw out for an entire day. All the frost will thaw, and probably run water all over the place so put towels down.

When you plug it back it, it should work fine.

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Water dripping from freezer into refrigerator

Hi,Most likely the drain in the freezer is clogged up and frozen. Every time when your fridge automatically defrosting defrosted water dripping inside the fresh food compartment. You have to remove the back panel in the freezer and using a hair dryer defrost the drain which is located under the evaporator coil. Then put very hot water through the drain until it goes free.
Yes, you need to remove the back panel inside the freezer, It should have screws that come out then it should pull off and out.

On your model, the defrost drain hole/line is located inside of the freezer behind that back access panel, just remove that back panel, remove your freezer floor panel FIRST(Has 2 screws in front), that simply pulls out, then you will see the drain hole under the evaporator coil. It may be iced up, you will have to clear all of the ice and run hot water down the drain hole.

Once the back panel screws are removed that panel should just pull off, pull hard. Make sure your refrigerator is unplugged first.

Good luck.

Where is drip pan on profile side-by-side

That is from your defrost drain either being clogged with food, or covered with ice. Behind the back wall in the freezer is a drain that empties underneath the fridge. If that drain gets blocked or froze over then the water will dump into the floor of the freezer and out the door gasket.

GE Profile Side By Side leaking water on to floor

there must be a hole in the lower back of the freezer compartment that carries the water to the drip pan when the fridge goes through the defrost cycle. Water on the floor means that hole is plugged and the water seeps through the doors. See the owner's manual - it will describe this issue. The fix is to have the blockage removed by squirting a solution of hot water and baking sode with a turkey baster or a similar injector.

Our Whirlpool top freezer unit is leaking water into the refrigerator. The model number is ET21NKXGW01 and at the top of the inside of the fridge, water is draining out into the fridge. The defrosting...

We were able to fix the freezer water leak. We unscrewed the false freezer floor and the inside back panel. Ice had accumulated on the freezer floor and the defrosting drain was frozen. We removed the ice by using a blow dryer then poured boiling hot water onto the frozen drain hole. The frozen water in the drain pipe hole eventually melted and the water released into the defrosting drip pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. Problem solved. We no longer have water leaking into the refrigerator.
