Panasonic Lumix DMCFX60 Digital Camera - "Sparkling Images become flat in Windows Live Photo"

I've had this camera for a few years and have never really used it seriously so I don't know how new this problem is. Anyway, I took a lot of photos in bright sun at the seaside recently. When viewed on the camera they look stunning, the colours are vivid. However, when I load them onto my PC and view them in Windows Live Photo Gallery in Windows 7 they look flat and washed out. Is this a compatibility problem? Is there anything that can be done? Any advice would be appreciated as I like the camera and would like to keep it. Many thank, John

Try a different photo viewer other than windows photo gallery and see what the results are.

many thank for the suggestion Russell, I've now tried every other photoviwer I could find and the results were still all about the same. I also dug out my old Apple iBook and tried on there but that was no better.A suggestion from another forum where I posted was that camera manufacturers are making LCDs featuring a lot of brightness, contrast and vivid colours so they are easier to see in bright light - which was always a complaint about them in their early days. 'fair comment. The only way I've managed to display the images, unaltered, so that they appear as bright is on a friends Kindle Fire HD whose screen probably has the same qualities as a cameras LCD for the same reasons. My thoughts are now going down the road of PPing the photos in batches if I can find suitable software (I know it can be done in Photoshop if the images are in RAW) Best Wishes,John

I was thinking along the lines of some kind of fungus if you were in a warm, humid climate.

Manual for Panasonic Lumix-S3 camera in english

You may download a copy of the manual here.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

Your electronics appear to have a poltergeist. Check with manual or mfg if there is a reset of unit to factory defaults. If this or a hard reset will not cure the issue then it is time to go shopping since repair is not cost effective unless this was a very, very expensive camera initially.

Cannot view DMC-FZ18 RAW images on Windows XP

If your camera shoots RAW images, they must be opened in a photo editing program that supports your camera such as Photoshop Elements.

Changed from windows xp to windows 7. I can't acquire images to my computer using lumix simple viewer. I think I need a windows 7 driver for my camera but I don't know how to obtain the driver.

The camera is designed to store images and videos onto a memory card, not to stream them live to a computer. It cannot be used as a webcam.
