Jumping mouse cursor

My mouse cursor keeps on jumping.i cleaned the mouse thoroughly.but it didn't solve the problem.i have noticed that by keeping the connecting cable in certain positions the mouse starts working just fine.the connection between the mouse and the computer is not loose.i have the following doubts: -could the connecting cable be the reason for the jumping? -or is the drive to be blamed for it? can anyone suggest any useful measures?

    thanks for the solution.

i tried the first two suggestions and came to the conclusion that the problem is neither with the cable nor with the mouse connector.i guess there's some problem with the mouse.

now i would like to know if anyone knows why this problem has occurred?as i said i have cleaned the mouse.what else could be the problem with the mouse?

I recommend StopMouseJumping to fix this problem. This software is able to tell apart normal mouse movements from jump-outs. Normal mouse movements are allowed, jump-outs are filtered out.

Elsamma, If you are positive keeping the cable stationary prevents the problem try this: Try holding the mouse connector stationary and wiggle the cable. If the problem occurs then the connection between the mouse connector/cable is defective, due to the low value of this mouse the fix would typically be replacing rather than repair. If that doesn?t work try wiggling the mouse connector where it plugs into the PC. If this causes the problem to reappear then either your mouse connector or the PC socket is damaged. Try another mouse and if the problem goes away, again the fix would be to replace the mouse. If a new mouse doesn?t fix the problem then there is a good chance the PS2 connector is damaged. At this point I would purchase a USB mouse which should solve your problem Let us know how things go and if you need any more assistance.

Your mouse is an optical one which means it has no moving parts; however, there are other things which can affect tracking:
    -wrong driver or driver problems
-defective movement tracking components inside the mouse.
-surface the mouse rides over does not work well with it. Some surfaces do not reflect the light generated by the mouse well. Try a cloth or hard surface mouse pad to see if it changes the behavior.

How do i fix keystrokes that jump backward as I type?

Some Lenovo touchpads are over sensitive and they cause the cusor to slip or jump around. In Control Panel select Mouse or Touchpad. A box will open and you can locate touchpad Properties and adjust the sensitivity. Lenovo also has updated touchpad software/drivers for one or two of the most troublesome models. i was able to reduce the cursor jumping around quite a bit by adjusting the sensitivity, but i still don't think it's a good design.

Jumping Cursor

Make sure your palm or more than one finger is not covering the touchpad. Laptops manufactured before 2013 did not understand "Multi-touch" on touchpads. Use only one finger on the touchpad and problem should be solved. If it doesnt, the touchpad is damaged. Buy a mouse.

When typing cursor keeps jumping

Generally there is a setting (CONTROL PANEL, MOUSE, Touchpad Tab) to either enable a feature like PALMCHECK or to disable the touchpad while typing. If neither option is shown, then try updating your touchpad driver

Jumping mouse cursor

I think some where in the cable there is a broken wire, it is inside the cable, cause there is a certain position that it work properly. You can also test it by tyring other mouse if the problem still the same.
