Question about Envision G175 Monitor

Picture not clear and shuts off after about 2 seconds after being turned on

I have the 17 inch Envision G175 monitor. When I turn it on the picture is not clear (slightly static-like) and it turns off after about two seconds after being turned on. Can someone please tell me: What is wrong with it and how can I fix it?

It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems. With the computer on and the monitor power LED green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the Windows ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. It could be your LCD backlight giving you problems. With the computer on and the monitor power LED green shine a flashlight in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Look for the ?Start? button, if your backlight is not working you?ll see a faint ?start? button if you look closely. If you can see the start button then it?s either the backlight tube or the electronics that controls it. This is repairable but I would not recommend the typical user try it unless they have tools and some experience with disassembly and handling of electronic components. It goes without saying that if you are unwilling to risk damaging the monitor you should take it to your local repair shop. You will spend about $50 more in labor but you save yourself guessing which parts are bad (a potential savings) and you will typically get a warranty of sorts. If you don?t see the start button I would next suggest you connect this monitor to another computer to see if the problem goes with the monitor or stays with the computer. Let us know what happens and if you need some more assistance.

Picture won't display after a few seconds

this is either the flourescent bulbs are going out or the power supply has bad capactors on it. You might open it up and look at the power supply board for capacitors with their ends that look like they are "erupting" on the ends.. this means they need to be replaced.

My envision monitor, G175 professional series, will power up and run for about 3 seconds then shut off. If i shut the power off to the computer or the monitor and turn it back on, again it will run for...

It can be dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps or dying inverter circuits, worst case will be bad backlight assmblies.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Envision G175 monitor goes on then goes black

This could be one of three issues:
1) Monitor is bad
2) cable is bad
3) video card is bad.

Try to plug the monitor into another computer or laptop and see if your current setup still shows black. If it now works, I'm pretty sure that it's your video card, seeing the other 2 components work fine for another computer. If it still doesn't work, then replace the cable and try again with the other computer. If the new cable doesn't fix the issue, then I think that it's monitor that's simply gone bad.
If it's the video card, you're going to have to open up the PC and replace and reinstall a new one. (do a Google search for help on this, but here's one link: http://www.directron.com/howtovideo.html) The install is easy, but if you've never done it before I'd recommend help from your local computer geek (someone from work?) or a computer place such as Geek Squad (located in Best Buy).

If this has helped, please give me the appropriate thumbs up! Thanks, and good luck!

My envision 17" comes on for a few seconds and then it goes black...how do I solve this

Typical problem with LCD monitor, failed powers upply due to bad caps, inverter circuits, or bad lamp assemblies. You will need to open it up first and look for bad caps, then go on from there. Please see my pictures so you will know what to look for inside.

Monitor goes to white when I turn it off.

If it turns white when you turn the power button off, then what is happening is the video part is getting turned off, but the backlight bulbs are staying on. This means the inverter board is not shutting off.
This could be caused by low power in the power board which may be failing from age or the inverter transistors are not shutting down after they heat up.
The boards would have to be rebuilt.
Since it is a 17 , it may not be cost effective.
Unplugging the power cord will work for a while to turn it off. It is just inconvenient.
If I saw a picture of the boards, I may be able to tell you for sure if the problem was obvious. I repair monitor boards through ebay.

Make sure she installed the envision driver. I jus saw it's a discontinued product. Also this product has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

If installed check her resolution. Right mouse click on desktop>properties>screen. Try alternate resolutions and see what happens but don't set it higher then 1280 x 1024 if possible.

Check the inverter board.

HP mx705 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor vertical goes bad

While it is sounding like a hardware problem. I'll throw in my 2 cents. Have you check the cables from the power to the source and from the monitor to the computer. Just make sure those aren't loose. One other thing...you mentioned you turn off the computer "afterwards" then it fixes itself. Is the fix for longer than it turns on at first? or does it stay on longer then goes out? Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
