49.4c18 error

This is a formatter error!
Process to resolve:
Unplug the power cord from the machine, and leave it disconnected for about 10 minutes. Plug it back in and power on.

If the error still persists you will need to replace the formatter. Formatter errors occur mostly when sending over .PDF files if it's a communication based issue. However the P3005 are notorious for having the formatters go bad.

Keeps dispalying mem test faliure 1/6 replace dim 0?

Somewhat common failure code on the P3005 machines. Unfortunately this means that your formatter board has failed. Your machine MAY be repaired under warranty depending on it's warranty date with HP. Just contact HP and give them your printer model and serial number and have them check the warranty status. Trust me in what I am telling you, HP has had a large number of P3005 formatter board failures. If you want more info just do a google search on "HP P3005 formatter" or "HP P3005 dimm 0" and you will see this is a problem.
Good Luck and Thank You using Fixya.

Hp laser jet3005n error mem test failure replace dimm 0

This means your formatter board has failed. This is quite common on the P3005. You need to call HP support and give them your serial number. They will tell you if it is under their extended warranty. They have a program to cover these defective boards. Just don't know wether your machine will still be under that repair program. In any case be assured it is the formatter board which is under the right side cover. The one that your network/USB cable plugs into. I repair HP printers and have personally seen this exact situation 4 or 5 times.
If your still unsure just Google search P3005 formatter or P3005 replace dimm 0. You will see lots of people with the same issue.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

49.4C02 Error

The P3005 is known to have problems with a chip on the formatter, gives various errors to include the 49.2d9d, blank display and others. HP has not issued a recall or service advisory but is fully aware of failure of the chip on the formatter. Repair for this is to print a configuration page, replace the formatter board, bring the machine back up in service mode and put in the correct serial, service code and page counts into the new formatter's nvram memory.

Liberty Parts Team at lbrty.com has refurbished formatters at reasonable pricing with no return core to worry about. The PIN needed to access the service mode is 10300506.

Other problems with the P3005 are grinding in the fuser area, correctable by removal of the fuser, replacement of the 4 accessable gears in the side (left as you look into the back) and the main gear on the fuser then put the fuser back in and should be good.

Service manual available for free at feedroller.com - down the left navigation bar near the bottom is an icon and link to service manuals in PDF. No need to make someone on ebay rich selling copyrighted pdfs.

LaserJet P3005n Printer: mem test failure replace dim 0...

This means your formatter board is failing or has failed. This is a common problem with a large number of the P3005 series HP printers. Do your research on this. Most of these printers can be repaired at an authorized HP repair center FREE of charge. Do not let them tell you different. If you have a local HP repair center then take it there. If not then call HP and have the serial number from the back of your printer ready.
You can do your own research on this by searching "P3005 formatter"
In case your interested the formatter board is the large board under the cover that is located on the right side of your printer towards the back. It just slides to the rear and comes right off. You will see a metal box that opens and the large circuit board in that box is the formatter.
There is also a lot of info on the net about "baking" the board in your oven to "reseat" some solder connections and fixing these boards. I can tell you I have tried it and it works....for a few weeks or so then it came back. I would certainly determine your warranty repair status before trying this.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya
