Every mp3 player has some space taken up by the native software, so it always shows less than advertised

Can't Delete Files From Global MP3 Player with Mac OSX

When moving an item to the trash, it actually is just in a hidden ".Trash" folder on that disk, so no space is actually freed up. Can you try hooking the drive back up and then emptying the trash?

1 gb mp3 player not working

Same thing happened to me. I was using windows media player to sync my song and it says my player was using 260 mb of space even though it was formatted time after time. I simply loaded as many song as I could fit on the player. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in, windows media now showed that missing 260 mb of space as available. The only catch is that the song I had already uploaded on to the player were not shown on the sync list.

Memoryproblem

Try creating a new or extended partition in the unused space using a later version of Partition Magic (www.download.com)This problem usually occurs due to a previous format not completing correctly IE the MP3 player was removed from the USB source before completing a previous format. Check to see that there is not a pinhole reset button on your MP3 player (requiring a paperclip or pen to be inserted into the pinhole and pressed until a factory reset of the device completes) Much like resetting a digital watch)once reset to factory you can attempt to format the device fully again.
