Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Ubnormal DC voltage output from it. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and precious time.

the problem you are having is the colour wheel. it spins to correct the colour on the screen when it fails you get wrong colours and flicker... the motor on it fails after time. and will need replacing.

You have answered your own question, someone needs to open it and find a loose plug or broken solder connection--if it reacts to being tapped on that is the issue- a physical problem inside.

Sounds like you dlp lamp is going out. That's a pretty old TV and if you are still running on the stock lamp this is exactly the type of thing that will happen. The lamp model for this particular tv is the ty-la1001. You can find that over here:

Okay, I'll try. First, unplug the set for 2 minutes and retry. If you have on-screen-display when this happens, try another input and a different set of patch cables to eliminate any simple problems. Then remove rear cover and peek through to see if tubes are lighting and listen for current to the tubes. There are usually small green and red lamps on the board which will flash upon failure in the set. These are there to direct us to the failed circuit. That should get you started.
