How do I connect a goldwing cb antenna to a harman kardon cb module

The Goldwing CB antenna uses a standard RF coax connector plug.
Don't know what the Harman Kardon module uses - I tried researching some sites such as Harley Davidson forums, on which the HK CB is standard.
Nothing found re actual antenna socket.
However, some important points to note, which you may already be aware of, as a CB user:
The antenna and CB should be matched to each other for several reasons:
Mismatched impedance and resonance can result in signal power attenuation or loss.
If SWR is too high, say above 3dB, this could damage the CB.
An incorrect antenna may exceed the FCC regulated guidelines for bandwidth, cross-talk and radiated transmitter power.

Clive.

How do I calibrate swr when antenna has a threaded bottom and a fiber glass covering on the outside? also what do i do cut it off?

Normally an antenna which is made for cb should give a pretty low swr. However this does not always happen and many antennas cannot be adjusted. The best solution is to use an antenna tuner. There's a mobile antenna tuner, for cb radio, available at http://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/cb/cb-accessories/zetagi-mm-27 This will solve the problem for you.

Cb has power but no squelch, can't recieve or transmit

Begin with
  • Volume knob 12 o'clock position
  • Squelch knob full counter clockwise
  • RF gain knob full clockwise
  • Pa/CB switch to CB
  • Mic plugged in
  • Check coax and antenna connections.
  • Make sure your antenna gommet/insulator is installed correctly or it will directed gound. Treat antenna shaft as it is the positive portion of circuit.
If you have another CB check the antenna system with that rig. To verify it is a radio issue. Then dig deeper Microphone, PLL chip, Audio chip etc.

I can't hear people

Make sure you don't try to transmit without a proper CB antenna, it will damage & blow out the power transistors! If you have another CB close by, try listening without the antenna attached If you even faintly hear whats transmitted by the other CB, your antenna cable is probably shorted out... AGAIN don't try to transmit with no antenna or a shorted cable it will damage the unit!

I can only hear people close to me on my CB, what could be the problem?

Sounds like a problem with the antenna system. Test with a VSWR meter (also called a "standing-wave" meter) if the antenna system is OK. Also, what happens if you connect a different CB radio to the antenna? This will tell you if the problem is with the antenna or with the CB radio.

Red antenna warning indicator light stays on

The red light is a warning of antenna mismatch; when you hold the antenna, you are changing the match between the CB's output amplifier and the antenna. Try it with a different antenna or pick up a 'test light' (or test load) for CBs from an electronics dealer, I've also seen them with CB accessories at truck stops. If the test light fires off and the red light on the CB is dark, the antenna you have is junk.

I Cant Pick Up Any Signals On my Cobra 25 LTD 40-Channels Base CB Radio all i hear is nothing. no truckers saying stuff. i just get white noise i do have an antenna. it is a tv antenna w/ bunny ears :) i...

Your problem is probably the rabbit ears. They are for tv in the 54+
Mhz and CB is 27 Mhz. For simplicity, go to Radio Shack and get a back of the radio indoor antenna. They run under $20. If you want to get more; try a roof antenna or a 1/2 wave cb marine antenna outside.
Hope it helps.3

Weather Radio won't work on 29 Nightwatch

Hello papapyr07,

It looks like you are trying to run the CB and the commercial radio off of the same antenna at the same time? This I gather is failing. This may be due to the pre-wired antenna having a filter on it to prevent exactly what you are trying to do. If this is the case you may have no choice but to run a separate antenna for your CB (this is the most logical choice), now you can try to find the filter if it is an external filter and remove it and use an antenna matching network to connect the CB to the existing antenna system (next logical, but may void the antenna system warranty). In any event you will either have to run another antenna for the CB or find and remove the present antenna filter.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Uniden pc 78 elite cb

Hi, This is a link to your old post re SWR 3....http://www.fixya.com/support/t180697-pc78_elite_cb As stated SWR 3 is too high, it should be 1.5 or lower. Fiberglass antenna are kinda notorious in setup and experience wise have not performed well or at all. Maybe you should try a different antenna (metal rod). Some good brands/models I have tried with very good results are K40, Hokushin, Comet, Oscar, Maldol, Daiwa. To check if you can receive, stick an ordinay length of wire ('bout 9' long) at the center of your radio's connector. RX should work (pls don't key the mic or TX).
